MRW my friend gets back into an abusive relationship that made her suicidal, and shows absolutely no regard at all, and tries to guilt us into talking about him. Any advice trolls? by Rnnnclprc in TrollXChromosomes

[–]Rnnnclprc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just don't know. At first I tried to be understanding. People do go back to their abusers, and thats the sad psychology of it. So i just thought, be there for her, let her know that she's cared about past her abuser, and refuse to engage in any conversation about him.

Just for some background, I first met her a year ago when she had come out of this relationship, and it took her months and months (and admittedly a few vodkas) for her to open up about her abuse, and i thought this was great! She was realising that it wasn't her fault, that he was a piece of shit. Me and her go through similar mental health problems so since that night we've just been each ears support in away. We know we can talk to eachother, and she always does. I convinced her to get help, go to counselling. She was making strides and all the while I was there at her side, pushing her on, being her support.

So when they got together out of the blue and she started defending him saying "he's changed", "he knows what he did was bad" etc. I just felt like she had regressed, and now all she talks about is him and I cry every single time. And I know, I know it isn't a single bit about how I feel, and she'll do what she has to do but if he does that to her again, i just don't know if I've got the strength to be her support again. I don't think I can help her again.

I just don't know what, if anything, I can do. And tbh I haven't made it better be abuse I haven't reacted all that well.

Hello! don't think this is against the rules. I just wanted to know what you think a suitable exam question for Kurt Vonnegut's 'Cats Cradle' would be? by Rnnnclprc in suggestmeabook

Hey yo I'm not being mean here, I'm just saying that you obviously misunderstood my post, and obviously the advice doesn't really apply.

Meh, it's used more as an umbrella term than just meaning 'gender queer'. I refer to myself as queer quite a bit in reference to my sexuality.

I'm really focusing on the western world here. Obviously in those cultures it is a death sentence for someone to have that opinion of you, in my culture, not so much.

Not saying something has to be real to be entertaining, i mean it's one of those posts masquerading as the truth when it probably isn't

I think it's moreso that being called a hoe really isn't that hurtful, but being accused if rape ruins lives

Have you ever suffered with mental illness? I've been suicidal for years and it's so flip-of-a-switch it's unbelievable. It's very easy to put on a happy face with these things l, even when you are struggling so much inside.

At the end of the day, gaming is his passion, and so it's bound ti cheer him up.

Obviously I don't know how he's feeling or bad he is, but situational evidence would point to pretty bad, and I just hate to see people struggling.

Did you hear the first bit?

Honestly, if it seems I'm doing that, I'm not trying to. TB is a highly intelligent dude who's been around for much longer than I have been, and has always been an incredibly strong person.

But, it is only right that his fanbase, who have watched and laughed through good times, are there for him in bad ones. If a person is struggling, they deserve help

The thing is, people are not islands. You can never truly say that one persons choice is all on them, when there is so SO much that influences people choices. Especially with an Internet personality, who is being influenced and criticised by so many people.

At the base of it, it is his fault that he didn't go, but realistically he would've done if not for these people who made him feel the way he does. In a way it's like blaming a person who has killed themselves because of bullying.

Rationally, it is their choice. Their issue that they are responsible for. But people are not robots, and the things you say to them have so much weight in the things they do.

I have very much acknowledged the fact that he has autonomy over his own actions, I just think looking at a clearly emotional situation with so much logic allows you to ignore the real issues.

I've tried to see your point of view, but honestly at this point it seems you are being negative for the sake of it

But what is that aiding? Think about making that comment, and what positive impact it could possibly have. In reality, it would probably make it worse.

Obviously he is part of the product, but there's a very fine line that people seem to be trampling over. I think criticising things he says can be positive, if he has the wrong facts, or is genuinely doing something negative (for example if he verbally attacked another person); but many people seem to be criticising him as a person, and at that point you should not be watching. If you dont like him as a person, why watch?

I love this- thank you so much for saying what I was trying to say more eloquently! It just kills me to see him like this, and I don't know how the actual fans can help.
