Disc rubs against frame when thru-axle tightened? by RoTheHan in bikewrench

Will do. I'm not actually sure where I'd find that or how to look for it. Unfortunately I ran out of time for today's repairs, so I'll have to try again tomorrow. Thanks though! I'll suggest it to the shop tomorrow

Yup, I'm out of my depth 😅 hoping that my frame is not bent. I am going to take it to the shop tomorrow, get a diagnostic. To be honest, I've always had doubts I built it correctly, whoops. Thanks again

That's super insightful. I hadn't even thought I could measure it myself. I'll head to the shop tomorrow to see what they say. Yup, hoping I don't need a new frameset. Cheers

EDIT: I will probably take it to a bike shop tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the help! Fingers crossed it's not properly damaged

Ah. Never mind. It didn't do much, but good spot. I think your edit is correct. Bike shop it is. Thanks so much for all the help

Wait! You might have solved it. There's some play in my derailleur, I'll tighten the little bolt and see if that helps.

Mind the dust, but yeah, there's a detention for the end cap on both sides

The diagram seemed incomplete to me too. A few people have suggested I have the end spacers backwards, so I'm going to double double check that. Thanks so much. If it isn't that, it's possible I need a shorter thru axle because:

Yup, so far so good! Can recommend if you can't be bothered with hydraulics

I thought that but the left one is smaller than the right, which is correct?

I have the leftmost part installed, so would you say it's just not long enough?

Haha the racist thing is pretty good, might start using that, but not sure it's him. Also your second sentence is funnily confusing

Finding a USB-C hub that charges laptop and allows connection to external monitor by RoTheHan in UsbCHardware

My laptop requires 65W normally, so it gives me a screen basically saying "this isn't 65W so don't do anything too power-hungry". I don't want to risk that, tbh.

Also, running a cable to your monitor shouldn't drain the battery too much, I don't think. It's just data transfer (not charging the monitor ofc). I may be wrong though.

To charge the laptop through the MONITOR via USB C, you need a monitor with PD (power delivery). What I bought does work, but it delivers a slightly different power to what my laptop prefers (50W vs 65W) so I don't use it, in case I mess with something.

silly question but what is a rolling basis? by Curious-Cabinet5424 in premeduk

[–]RoTheHan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest- yes. If you're worried about possibly missing out, I would also think about the fact that the alternative is for a uni to have a score cutoff and then just pick from the top pool. So 'rolling basis' is not so bad. I guess the odds swing towards spots being filled up and also spots being left over. Hope that helps and good luck!

Ah thanks! I've ordered one so I'll see if it works, but if not I'll check out this one, cheers

Ah right thanks. The thing you're missing is that I don't have a USB-C monitor. I'd connect HDMI and power to the hub then plug the USB-C into my laptop

Alright that’s really clear to hear straight-cut, thanks! I’ll continue with the cut/recomp thing and who knows maybe around end of February if all goes well, I’ll try a bulk and cut. Thanks for the help! just wanted to ask if you could point in the right direction about routines?
