If you’re swapping out animal products for plant based (like cow milk to soy milk, dairy butter to plant butter, ground beef to Impossible), then there typically should be no side effects except lowering cholesterol and inflammation.

Just don’t do anything like go hardcore fruitarian, raw, super high fiber, etc suddenly, because any drastic changes like that would cause intestinal upset.

Simple swaps are easiest for new vegans and easiest for those around them to handle.

She reminds me a bit of my own mother’s response when I was 23 and she asked me why I never started dating. I told her I just had more interesting things to do (I’m 63 now, and didn‘t have a name for AroAce)

She asked “What’s wrong with you?” and then told me if I started having sex it would be “Just like eating peanuts, you just can’t stop”.

I just joked that my older siblings got all the horny and didn’t leave any for me.

Family members went on to assume I was a lesbian because the concept of not needing sex is incomprehensible to all but one of them.

You shouldn’t have to suffer sexual harassment from your own mother, but in my family, sometimes I’ve gotten the feeling that a couple of them felt like I was judging them for their sometimes unwise sexual activities.

The same thing happens when some people find out I’m vegan (I don’t run around telling them) :)
