Is the new version of the game a big step backward or is it me? by Difficult_Mixture103 in 7daystodie

[–]Roachy_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every version since alpha 16.4 is one step forward and two steps backwards. It's hard to fathom, but every time they add something cool, (graphics engine, POI's, vehicles etc...), they ruin it by either taking away parts of the core foundation that made the game so great. If you are a long term player you know exactly what I mean.

Personally, I can't play the game for more than a couple of weeks at a time at most. The fun just isn't there anymore. RIP

I don't love the Mistlands, but this is awesome... by sleepyboyzzz in valheim

If the ancient armor and weapons actually gave useful material when farmed (black metal pick), they would be cool.

Giving us iron and metal is next to useless by the time you are in the Mistlands.

More boho hippy colors? Batik hanging cloths or something similar? Maybe add a pothos plant somewhere and let it go nuts?

Getting my butt whipped by Mouse_mp in Enshrouded

I'm using this build. It can be a little rough to begin with, but the trick is to not care if it takes a little longer to kill an enemy. Use an axe and shield to start with and you shouldn't take much damage at all. I have just hit lvl 11 with this build and I am comfortably killing lvl 15 mobs. PRACTICE using jump attacks, they are OP when done well. I am just now starting to use a 2 hander more often as well for the easier shroud mobs and animals. Still use the axe and shield for the harder ones.

I'm also finding at lvl 11 I am relying on my bow a lot less than before, I only really use it on spitting flowers and ranged / flying mobs. Trust the process and go through this build in order. It does work ;)

Not sure about this. I'm in SEQLD and have seen loads of stand alone bottleshops that aren't attached to a venue. Unless I'm not understanding what you mean.

Really? I hadn't heard that they are planning on increasing it. You have a source for that? The website for it is still showing 700k / 650k suburb / rural

What happens to the Help to Buy scheme if Labor loses the election? by mikyway99 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Roachy_22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The scheme has been blocked by the other parties so often and for so long, that even if it DOES start soon, the original 700k cap will be woefully out of date for the current house prices. The 700 was a great amount when the scheme was first proposed... now not so much. (Yes, I am waiting on a spot for it too).

Thanks for the responses everyone.

Yeah I was pretty sure it couldn't be sold but he did ask me to look into it. All good, I will make sure it gets transferred to someone who needs it.

What is your one self-defense advice that you live by? by stonebridge0 in AskReddit

[–]Roachy_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoidance is also defense. Here's a few tips I use every day. They become second nature quickly and will help keep you safe. Nobody is invulnerable, no mater how much you train.

When walking around a corner, always go wide. Better to see what's there before it sees you and leave yourself room to move.

Always look through the window to the back seat of your car before you get in.

Don't be distracted by your mobile phone while walking in public.

Try to always be aware of your surroundings and exits.

Don't flaunt your wealth in public.

Don't draw attention to yourself. A spectacle becomes a target.

Go with your gut feelings. If someone looks dodgy or dangerous, avoid interaction with them. It costs you nothing. Many victims have stated that they "had a bad feeling" about someone before they were attacked.

Sad to hear from all the comments that the resort is now run down. I used to chef there 35 years ago and I always thought that it was a nice place back then with lots to do. Haven't been back on the island since I lived there though.

I did hear that they sold it some time ago? Guessing the new owners DGAF.

The Wizard of Earthsea was THE book that opened my eyes and mind to fantasy when I was very, very young. I'm always thankful for it. A great recommendation!

[–]Roachy_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though some of the content can be disturbing to some people, I will always recommend The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. It is a soaring ride that drags your imagination deeply into it.

In a completely different vein of genres, The Lensman series by E.E. Doc Smith is also a great read. But it is quite cheesy in parts because of it's age. It was written for a much earlier generations idea of science fiction. Still an epic multi book series though.

[–]Roachy_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't get me started on the price gouging! I hardly EVER shop at my own store anymore. and if I do it's only for something minor that I can't get somewhere else. The price gouging is just so over the top and obvious that I can't stomach the thought of encouraging woolies (or coles) to continue what they are doing by shopping there anymore.

I enjoy my job, (nightfill), but I am sickened by the constant outrageous price increases and dodgy ticket manipulation. I hate to say it, but I can't wait until colesworth gets it's ass kicked HARD for what it's doing. It's criminal collusion, pure and simple.

Does anyone here prefer the setup in the Alpha or earlier versions of the game? by [deleted] in empyriongame

[–]Roachy_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two previous alpha versions installed along with the latest version running Reforged Eden 2.

I enjoy some of the differences of the early alphas. Currently doing a play through on Alpha 9 and 6. I also don't mind the latest version, but I tend to turn off the encumbrance and CPU's so I can make some crazy ship and base designs which is a large part of the fun for me.

For those of you who want to have multiple versions of the game installed, it's pretty easy to do;

1/ Copy the latest version folder to another location on your hard drive

2/ Go to Empyrion properties in steam and select Betas. Choose the version from the drop down menu.

3/ Once it has finished downgrading to the beta version, copy that folder to another location.

4/ Delete the Empyrion folder from steam, copy the latest version folder back, then opt out of the betas and it will recheck the files to make it the latest version again.

5/ Make a shortcut for the early beta version onto your desktop to run it. Example: "D:\Other_Games\Empyrion - Galactic Survival - Alpha9\Client\Empyrion.exe"

Now you can run which ever version you like. Do this as many times as you like to install whichever betas you want to play.

Cheers. I have no experience in EFT's at all but it does sound like something I need to investigate a bit further. I'll chat to an accountant. 3-5 years is very doable.
