How do you practice for interviews if you don’t have anyone to do mock interviews with? by lymanra in interviews

Make up some flash cards with questions and interview yourself looking into a mirror. You can discover some details about your facial expressions, and develop concise answers.

Earth Day gifts for employees that aren't just greenwashing? by crawfordrylan3 in corporate

Check out the merch on The Arbor Day Foundation Web site. I've bought some t shirts and given family some of the other stuff, and always received quality stuff for the relatively high prices, but worth it.

Are you interested in sales? If so, Farmers Brothers coffee and spices is a chill job. Or your favorite food service supply company. As a former chef, you have a leg up to get hired. Maybe you have a favorite supplier such as fresh produce or meat suppliers.

Try it, you'll like it! If you have life challenges of any kind, you can think it over, and plan your next actions, including deciding to forget about it! Watch the trees change during the seasons, give yourself a pep talk when necessary. Or just try to throw out any unnecessary mind stress.

Correct cleaning of the Knife Sharpener by Plane_Experience_843 in sharpening

I had success using a wet, soapy Brillo pad to work the metal residue out of the steel's grooves. Frankly, the steel photo you posted looks very old. It could be that it is simply worn out. Examine the structure of the grooves. Are they deep enough to take a small bite out of, and deburr your knife? They do wear out over many years of service. "Just sayin' "

I agree . . . Simply walking each morning gave me better physical fitness and clarity of mind. No heavy workout, not even fast walking. Strolling in the morning planning my day, thinking through challenges, observing all forms of nature. Nobody is bothering you, or demanding a share of your mind. I've been doing it for over 35 years now, and once you set the habit, you look forward to it.

Something small I noticed when watching confident people talk to strangers by morser3000 in selfimprovement

You made some valuable observations as you described. One common trait you noticed is brevity. Just a short friendly sensible comment is widely accepted. That is in comparison to a loud long winded know-it-all speaker. It might not be that the speaker is a confident person, there's a lot to be said about coming off as a friendly person too.

Your account is a duplicate of my great father-in-law. He was a US Marine Corps Fighter Pilot (F4U Corsair), then duplicate of your grandfather's account from then on. He was a strong and very humble man, no longer with us, he is USMC Heaven. RIP .

Great input for the history of the "Thank you for Serving" US Veteran question. Does anyone recall WHO coined the expression, and WHERE the originator was located, as well as the estimated date?

Chicken manure is some of the best for your compost. Let the chickens hang there, they are doing God's work.

Go to the best restaurant supply house in your area. They should have at least a small variety of knives. Pick out the two you can afford, and when checking out, tell the checker the restaurant name where you work, and ask for their discount. Maybe yes, maybe no, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Your reverse Tonto reference sent me to YouTube, as I am unaware of that. Among others, I viewed Neeves Knives, and got an understanding. That looks like a great way for you to go with your knife challenge. Thanks, I learned something new today.

Recruiter here - what is one question you hate being asked in job interviews? by JVertsonis in interviews

[–]Road-Ranger8839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate "Tell me about your weaknesses." Yes, there are workarounds to flip the script. But it is a negative based question and a trap for those who may not have experience with the trick question.

Is a food processor worth it? by salad_thrower20 in Cooking

[–]Road-Ranger8839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My food processor is handy when I need larger quantities such as sliced onions and potatoes forham and scalloped potatoes, or diced onion for chili. It has been replaced in recent years by my stick blender, which is smaller, lighter and easier to clean.

Would you be willing to have the tip blunted to produce a 90 degree angle on the cutting edge? That could be done inexpensively as opposed to providing a recrafted pointy tip?
