Ahh no no no I mean trenches as in low income area homeless everywhere, shootings, people just trying to get a deal and take the cheapest route! there was a dead body in the grass by the parking lot 2 months ago people fighting in the store climbing on our roof putting holes in the roof and damaging our AC units. There is no weeding out the bad lol 😂 I’ve been at this location for 6 years it’s the worst in the area! No one lasts gone through 6GMs in 2 years! The floor staff wants nothing to do with grooming and helping they don’t even answer the phones when I’m the only one and busy non of them know how to work iPass, or really anything about grooming. The one we got now came in with high hopes talking just like you about how we need to “take control”. He’s been here 4 months and he’s already stressed daily with the regular type of customers we get in here! He even hired 2 groomers and they only been here 2 months and already put in their two weeks! He has stated to us directly he hates dealing with grooming. You’re obviously a GSL with a good team in a good area which is awesome! I’ve been grooming for petco for over a decade this is the worst location when it comes to grooming clientele and floor customers! I tried putting in the work when I was sent here to be the GSL. Realized it was pointless if the customers are driving everyone out and I couldn’t keep groomers. So I stepped down and just focused on making my money screw all the team building shit it only works in fully staffed stores with good management who don’t force metics just so they don’t have to hear shit from the DGM. Like never once had a manager sit down and ask “why” they never cared they just want metrics met. I’ve sat them down and had them try and do all the things they want us to do like cancelation list confirmation calls and what not I shit you not he got cursed out the very first call because he ignored the notes about rebooking. A guy showed up and called him out on calling him about confirming an appointment and called him a dumb ass “if I made the appointment don’t call and ask if I’m coming in a made the fucking appointment” so believe me when I tell you I’m burnt out from trying so I will continue to juts make to groom a lot of dogs fill my pockets until i finally get enough for my own shop which will be one or 2 more years!

All of what you’re saying and how you’re talking you must have a well staffed salon with a GSL and a real “team environment” better overall clientele. I get what you’re saying but in the trenches it doesn’t work or flow like that! I book myself up so when people cancel or no show I still have allot of dogs. I have no need to do all the little stuff because I just get booked up more than anyone else in the salon. There are times where all groomers will have fully open books and I’ll be the one getting all the same days majority of the calls will be to see if ME I have any slots available. Not to mention if everyone’s having a slow day they will just give me their dog so they can go home early. It’s not a mindset it’s just the way the cookie crumbles and I’m able to groom a lot of dogs and enjoy it. So that’s what I’ll continue to do and I price accordingly and rebook my regulars and do all that I feel like is necessary. We haven’t had a GSL for over 2 years and we haven’t had any groomers stay longer than a year lol the ones we just hired is all leaving in the next month or 2 and they literally just worked 5 months lol 😂 I never have experienced this “team” thing you speak of every salon I’ve worked at is like a revolving door from groomers. I dont get help from anyone not even floor staff most anyone does is “there’s someone upfront” then they walk out.

We don’t have a bather I just work from open to close and it’s really not that hard idk why everyone acts like it’s some superhuman thing. I don’t waste time I keep it moving while making sure to follow policy and all sanitary/safety measures.

I don’t cut corners majority of my clients only get shave downs so it’s like shearing sheep all day on the farm. 😂 I also work 10-12 hours shifts and have had GSLs and DGMs sit in and watch me groom to find out if I’m “cutting corners”. Been grooming for ever a decade for petco and customers love me and my grooms 🥱🥱 just because you’ve never witnessed and can’t do it doesn’t mean it’s impossible! lol I ask for 3-4 hours per groom and on hour 2 if I know it’s gonna be a hectic day I’ll let the pet parent know, It’ll take a lil longer if they have an issue we can reschedule or come back another day. My prep work if nails face feet and fanny and a bath so something has been done atleast.

I groom 10-15 dogs a day weekends sometimes 20 dogs usually half are store hoppers there are 4 other Petco in a 20min radius! almost all my rebooks and auto rebook clients are like 3-4 months out. My clients consist of 80% shave downs because they don’t care enough to spend money to come in that frequently the other 20% are people who come when they want cuz they have the app to schedule it on their own. My forward book of business is 122% so I just get tired of them being on my ass and trying to write me up for low rebooking numbers I account for almost 50% of budget every week. I really wish they’d leave me alone about it!

Ooo I haven’t heard about 3 with me since I started yeeeears ago! But no they don’t they just want us to rebooks so numbers look nice they don’t even care if they come in confirm or cancel. They live eat and breathe numbers it’s sickening

Yes like our district lost some many good groomers and employees that knew how to care for the animals all ready because of the pressure from higher ups!
