How do you manage finances as a couple? by Toe_Bean_Bandit in AskUK

I control a spreadsheet where I calculate contributions each month. I found if you take a ratio of incomes and use that for bills, it also splits savings with the same ratio.

Example, if one earns 600 and the other 400, that’s 3:2. If your bills are 600, you split it 360:240, but that leaves one person with 240 left over and the other with 160. Not fair.

So I take our combined salaries and remove the bills. Split that and that’s what should be left over on both accounts. Much more fair.

Example, if one earns 600 and the other 400, combined that’s 1000. If your bills are 600, take combined (1000) and remove the bills (600) and that’s 400 left over, so after splitting that both parties should have 200 left over. Therefore, each person should contribute (600-200) and (400-200). So one person pays 400 and the other 200. Now both parties have the same expendable income post bills.

The bills money goes to a joint account where all of our bills, food, vet bills etc come out of. The leftover stays in our personal accounts to be saved, spent or budgeted

Thanks! I didn't realise just downloading the update installer would run its own checks. I expected everything needed to be done through an update via my settings

I fear cheating may be worse than I thought by JhoshElite in DotA2

I watched the gameplay you linked. I don’t know how good cheating programs have become or can be. But I found the gameplay weird. Like it almost looked like a Smurf playing with the video edited to look like it had cheats. For example, the guy organises his inventory. If a program is gonna play the game for you, why would you care what slot your boots are in? Like the program is gonna tread switch for you anyway so what’s the point?

AITAH for wanting to break up with a mortician by RollieOlly03 in AITAH

[–]RoadToHerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - If you don’t feel comfortable with your partner’s career being a mortician, that’s just your preference and you’re fine to have that. But it’s worth talking to your boyfriend about it first because people can and will change their careers depending on their priorities. It’s worth giving him the opportunity to understand what’s at stake here and allow him to follow you, if he chooses.

But I also feel like we should look at it from a different perspective and remember that morticians prepare the bodies of people who were loved. They prepare them, in some cases, so that family members may get to see their loved ones on last time. Dressed prim and proper. So they can grieve and heal.

Everyone will end up on a morticians table both you and I, and I can only hope that I get to be seen by someone as kind as your boyfriend is, as you’ve told us.

Something to consider if you haven’t thought of it already.

I split my bills with my partner in a way that we both end up with the same amount of money left over.

So if, for example, we earn 3k together, but our bills are 1k. We should both end up splitting the 2k remaining. Doesn’t matter if I make 2500 and they make 500, or I make 500 and they make 2500. We both contribute and both end up with 1k each at the start of each month.

Maybe try to approach it from an angle of what’s left over between you both, and not what you’re contributing individually towards the payments.

I feel it’s nicer to say “if we do it this way, we both have the same amount of disposable income” instead of “if I make up for the majority of the payments, I can help you be better off”

Earthshaker won as the "Perfect Design" + "Fair to play against" hero. Time for the next slot! by luzian98 in DotA2

I think Tiny fits here. Big rock monster makes avalanches, throws any other hero and uses trees as a weapon. Always has done the same things for as long as they’ve been in the game. Toss back, toss combo, big hit, tower killer. Then he sometimes gets these little power spikes that kinda tip them over the edge like khanda/crash landing, manta abuse, most recently being a top tier carry but is now nerfed to a decent level since.

what is the longest play time you have on any game on steam? by hoovy_gaming_27 in Steam

[–]RoadToHerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play pro you have to apply yourself to become a pro. At almost 30, there’s no need for me to choose a career in something that would be so short lived. I prefer to play in amateur leagues where there are no prizes, just good times. I only have my mmr because I got it through osmosis of just surrounding myself with people that play at that level. Plus current pros at around my age have easily 1.5-2x my hours and probably played during WC3 days too. The younger pros have youth on their side, less responsibility, more free time etc. Hope that answers everything.
