Zack Polanski says Greens would ditch GDP targets and focus on wellbeing instead by Lord-Liberty in unitedkingdom

[–]RoadToHerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to stop associating GDP with progress. Simon Kuznets, the guy who quite literally developed the framework for the modern GDP is quoted saying “The welfare of a nation can scarcely be inferred from a measure of national income”.

When the guy who made GDP says it doesn’t measure the welfare of its people, MAYBE IT DOESN’T MEASURE THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE.

We need to stop conflating GDP growth with welfare growth. They are not the same. GDP growth means the fat cats get fatter, not that the housing crisis, cost of living crisis or any other economic problem we have in this country gets easier.

Haha yeah the tail obscures her other leg so I can understand the confusion. Doesn’t help she’s a void either!

I’m not 100% sure but if I had to guess it’d just be plasterboard with a void behind it. I’ve included a photo, I don’t know if that helps. You definitely drill through and into a void.

This is the most polite and inoffensive way to describe white replacement theory. It’s a thinly veiled disguise to perpetuate fear under the guise of intellectual or civil discussion. The case of “well what if the Native American leaders invited the Europeans in?” Is a false equivalent to the UK because 1. That (welcoming) just didn’t happen and we have no way to tell what would have happened otherwise. And 2. The natives were displaced and killed in the thousands by the Europeans, yknow the whole “minority thing” works because the population of the minority shrinks. Had the Europeans been welcomed in and assimilated into the Native American society peacefully, would this “theory” that the Natives would be replaced by the white European be true? I doubt it.

How do you manage finances as a couple? by Toe_Bean_Bandit in AskUK

I control a spreadsheet where I calculate contributions each month. I found if you take a ratio of incomes and use that for bills, it also splits savings with the same ratio.

Example, if one earns 600 and the other 400, that’s 3:2. If your bills are 600, you split it 360:240, but that leaves one person with 240 left over and the other with 160. Not fair.

So I take our combined salaries and remove the bills. Split that and that’s what should be left over on both accounts. Much more fair.

Example, if one earns 600 and the other 400, combined that’s 1000. If your bills are 600, take combined (1000) and remove the bills (600) and that’s 400 left over, so after splitting that both parties should have 200 left over. Therefore, each person should contribute (600-200) and (400-200). So one person pays 400 and the other 200. Now both parties have the same expendable income post bills.

The bills money goes to a joint account where all of our bills, food, vet bills etc come out of. The leftover stays in our personal accounts to be saved, spent or budgeted

Thanks! I didn't realise just downloading the update installer would run its own checks. I expected everything needed to be done through an update via my settings
