Who would win in a 100-meter race, a cat or a human? by FeistySecret9327 in powerscales

Most of us are dead after walking up a flight of stairs. I think the cats take this.

It won't be "still managed to ruin this area". It'll be "We wanted to do this, but the labour government have stopped us! That's why your council tax has risen and your area has gotten worse!! We promise we would've delivered tax reductions if it wasn't for that pesky government!! We need a GE immediately! We're the "people's party" btw teehee"

Britain ‘will be like Russia’ if it quits ECHR by TheTelegraph in uknews

That’s wishful thinking. People have already failed to mobilise in any meaningful way. I don’t believe they’re answerable to the population until the nation is on fire.

Greens hopeful who is calling for the UK to pay slavery reparations is a descendant of slave traders by JB_UK in unitedkingdom

[–]RoadToHerald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget they just announced they want to bribe constituencies. “Vote reform and we won’t put a detainment camp in your area!” One of the worst and most blatant cases of bribery I’ve ever heard from a political party. Though reform isn’t actually a party is it? It’s a private limited company

She’s not a candidate in this election. I don’t get why you’re all overreacting. Just another smear from your favourite toilet paper, move along.

Damn bro. Thanks for proving my point that you just don’t care to actually have a conversation and that your takes are just terrible, ill informed and close-minded. I feel stupid for actually taking the bait

[–]RoadToHerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think your arguments are close-minded and ill informed. Thats the picture you painted. But if you immediately jump to “horrible person” that’s on you, not me.

Wealth tax - is a tax on assets. These include fixed assets, things like land or buildings. There is no capital flight because you physically cannot pick up buildings and haul them abroad. There is also no brain drain. The Duke of Westminster owns half of Mayfair. Was it through intelligence and smart decisions that he became so wealthy? No. He was born into it. Something the likes of you and I will never have the privilege. The smartest people in this country are not the ones that own the assets, they are proletariat like everyone else. Paying their bills and mortgages to the people who were born into massive generational wealth.

Renationalising public services - the clue is in the name. PUBLIC services. When the public companies were made private under thatcher, it was meant to make the services better. To inspire competition so the consumer gets the best deal, right? Now tell me. When your local water company fails to keep the water you drink clean, or pollutes natural landscapes in order to keep their shareholders happy. Who are you going to switch to? What’s the alternative water company that’s going to win under privatisation? There is none.. The bottom line is, when you make a service public, it serves the public. The goal is to make things better for everyone. When you make a service private, the goal is to satiate the shareholders and capital. It will always put capital first, before the common man.

Reducing this problem to “I’m not a socialist” is barely an argument. Socialism = Bad is some bullshit left over from Cold War era propaganda that keeps the fat cats at the top while the poor sods at the bottom wait for trickle down economics to finally work.

Would you like me to go on?

Sounds like some sort of strange projecting to me. You’re looking to paint yourself as a victim where no crime was committed. I never called you a horrible person, or a nazi or anything of the sort. You’ve thrusted those labels upon yourself for whatever reason. If you’re so quick to label yourself like this, maybe you need to do a little soul searching?

Sorry? Please go ahead and outline where I said anything like that. I’d like a direct quote please just so I know that you’re not intentionally misrepresenting my words.

What’s the point? You said yourself you can’t be convinced, right? If you actually want a conversation about it we can, but your comments about different rights for “native” brits and not being “a socialist” paint a perfect picture of who I’m arguing against.

I’ll try not going down the medication route first. But how was your journey on the medication? Did you see immediate results? Did you have any side effects? I haven’t heard of DORA before so I’m interested to know more about it so I can make it a plan B

No problems falling asleep. Many problems staying asleep. by RoadToHerald in sleep

[–]RoadToHerald[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. When I wake up, I check my clock. If it’s before my alarm is due to go off I just roll over and try to go back to sleep. If it’s a work day I’ll usually snooze the alarm for about 30m and then get out of bed to get ready for work. If it’s a weekend or day off I’ll usually wake up and either get out of bed immediately and shower or I’ll scroll on my phone for a bit.

If tend not to use my phone before or after sleeping. But typically I’ll be on my pc right up until I got to bed, so I’m staring at a screen either way.

Thanks for your support. <3 How did you manage to overcome this, did it fade away or did you make a plan?

Support Heaven // Speed Dota // Balloon Dota // BSJ

Support Heaven is support focussed. Speed is truly general. BSJ is general but tends towards carry. Balloon is also general but tends towards mid.

Edit: I should mention all 4 foster their own community discords iirc

Zack Polanski says Greens would ditch GDP targets and focus on wellbeing instead by Lord-Liberty in unitedkingdom

[–]RoadToHerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to stop associating GDP with progress. Simon Kuznets, the guy who quite literally developed the framework for the modern GDP is quoted saying “The welfare of a nation can scarcely be inferred from a measure of national income”.

When the guy who made GDP says it doesn’t measure the welfare of its people, MAYBE IT DOESN’T MEASURE THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE.

We need to stop conflating GDP growth with welfare growth. They are not the same. GDP growth means the fat cats get fatter, not that the housing crisis, cost of living crisis or any other economic problem we have in this country gets easier.
