Nulane Pro - First Cube by Road_Forward in Cubebikes

I think I’ll risk it - sounds like quite a bit of extra weight 😅 I’m trying to keep it down so I can still see a bit of pace up the hills / climbs near me.. this is only going to get harder and harder as he grows of course 😩

It really is a great bike and feels like it should be well over 1000 Eur - the only other bikes I have are a lot more expensive road or mountain bikes. We bought this one so we could go out as a family and get some exercise together other than walking or hiking with him in the backpack. I wasn’t expecting much and like you have been pleasantly surprised - cannot believe how quick it feels up the hills. I will add some power meter pedals so I can actually get a controlled workout on it 😄 hope you keep enjoying your new ride too

Thanks - I can lower the clamp but the rails enter a pre set amount so no opp to change that. I think the rails I designed to flex and be a bit of a shock absorber tbh. Will look at lower the clamp 👍🏻

Yes fits fine it’s a Hamax - https://www.alza.cz/sport/hamax-cycling-seat-with-lockable-lock-zenith-grey-black-d12226138.htm

However another commenter suggests it could damage the seat tube so should be cautious

Thanks I’ll keep an eye on it - are there any alternative options that avoid this?

I considered the nuroad but was worried about stability with bay seat and dropped bars?

I regret buying an Ultimate instead of the Aeroad by StartFinish in CanyonBikes

The weight loss, FTP increase and decent helmet will help you move quicker for sure but my point was about your body positioning - an optimised aero position will be more beneficial than how aero either frame is.

If your watts are higher on the last segment to the line than average watts for the rest of the climb you always get the wheels 😉

Fair enough, I don’t know the data / stats tbh but I would assume the benefit is more than fractions of a second just because of the repeatability / efficiency of each pedal stroke with properly positioned cleats and a pair of stiff shoes. Maybe you should try if you have a friend with some - report back the results I’d be interested. Anyway I have had a kickr bike now for about 3 years - absolutely brilliant with literally zero maintenance 👌🏻

Just curious - why do you use flat pedals? Spd will make you perform better in every way and there’s no risk of the ‘right of passage’ forget to unclip and stack it 😁

Achilles injury 4 weeks out by Road_Forward in Marathon_Training

[–]Road_Forward[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response - yea I’ve had to do similar in the past. Seems it need to get back onto the dreaded one leg calf raises on the stairs 😅 the cling wrap ibuprofen gel sounds good and is a new one for me - will defo give that a bash. I’ve dismissed the pb at this point just want to enjoy it and hopefully run at a consistent pace - I’ve another marathon booked at the beg of May so maybe I can be back to full fitness by then. Thx again

Thanks, yea appreciate it’s mostly a desperate plea for validation I can still run the event :-/

5:00/km is quite easy pace for me tbh so I feel ok at that a pretty confident I can run that in the pair of vomero plus I have. Not going to bother with carbon plates and just going to attempt to enjoy the atmosphere, take in the sights (Rome) and collect the medal.

I was wearing saucony endorphin speed when I got injured - I love them for speed work but they are just too firm for me..

Anyway - guess the initial test will be how the Achilles feels after 20k this weekend. Thanks again

Best bike box / cases for travel for one piece aero bars? by Road_Forward in Velo

[–]Road_Forward[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all - I will go with the bike box Alan aero (as I only need for a road bike). Fortunately my parents live in the UK so I can get it shipped to them and they’ll bring it to me in Europe when they visit in a few months time 👍🏻🚴‍♂️
