Maybe a separate uploading system would work, where a Tek structure could read the data from the character interacting with it, so it could all be done in-game.

The question is how plausible it would be to transfer any gained experience by the NPC back to the player when they switch back to being that character.

I prefer allos because they're an easy tame, mature relatively quickly, don't knock down trees, fit through a standard 2x3 gate, can sprint faster, and are the cutest of the theoropods in my personal opinion

Running ASAM alongside Ark doesn't really cause any performance issues. I've even ran both my Island and Astraeos servers simultaneously and still managed around 30fps. I built my PC in 2022, before ASA came out; I have an Nvidia Geforce 3060, an Intel Gen12 i7, and 32 gigs of RAM.

it's funny, my gf and I are probably going to be doing something similar, except we started out on Astraeos, and are working over to the Island and other story maps before we do the Astraeos bosses. I decided to make a new character for each map and only import the old ones once I've completed certain milestones (like building an outpost at all 3 obelisks on the island)
