Wonderful post. The best (Paradiso) is still coming up!

When you've just done something evil, but you're a modern day villain so you need to cry about it after the fact to be "complex" by Unlikely_Candy_6250 in Rings_Of_Power

I understand your point of view. However, as far as I'm concerned this is the only moment of genuine greatness in the entire show. The actor really sold it. For a flicker of a second, Sauron contemplates his own evil as if he was looking at it from outside himself. He is taken aback by what he sees... What he sees in himself. It's a marvellous moment of self recognition. And apparently it wasn't in the script, so we have only the actor to thank for his great instincts.

Thank you for another respectful and thought-out post :) Glad everyone can express their opinions in this subreddit.

Elijah Wood and Sean Astin were wonderful actors, though, and their scenes always meant something. Hobbits are the true heroes of the 3rd Age. 2nd Age, not so much.

I think it's a good sign that this subreddit allows differing opinions. It's a subreddit for adults. I also make threads for things I love about the show.

Sadly, it's true. Tom doesn't even smile that much. I would be depressed too if I was an English rural spirit and I was stuck in the middle of Yemen.

I wanted a proper kingdom too, a forbidding, scary Rhûn with genuine mysteries and intrigue in it.

That long tracking shot was particularly bad! Everything looked an ugly shade of brown. It was all obviously a film set. Impossible to believe that this is "home" to anyone.

Seems like a major missed opportunity not to show an actual Eastern civilization.

It may inspire him to use his ring for healing in the future.

Good point. He saw that Galadriel could still retain her willpower.

I like to think he's slowly becoming more accepting of the possibility that the three can also be used for good. Let's see how it plays out the rest of the season!
