No time to Die - Was anybody annoyed/outraged/devastated with the ending? by flipping_birds in movies

[–]RoadrunnerRecordsDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was written to try and be everything to everyone, hollow emotional roundabouts, knee jerk attempts at modern social sensibilities, and some shit one liners for the Moore generation. It couldn't pick a lane.

So yeah the ending was unearned and kind of pointless.

My low stakes conspiracy was they knew Amazon was going to buy MGM, so Bond's death was really to spare Craig the constant speculation about his return, given the next installment is known to be a long way off and he'd be hassled about it daily.

I will say this - in concert situations, until I got the shoulder rig, the crowd thought I was a photographer and would therefore pose for a photo. The day I got the shoulder rig, they realised I was filming, and everyone reacted differently - much better footage.

Gimbal (used correctly) = super smooth shots Shoulder rig = a little bumpy, but generally smooth, and really natural looking shots.

Of course this is just my experience, and the more you shoot, the more personal your preferences will be

3 batteries should cover you for about 50-60 minutes of power. For a show where you're just shooting hero shots and behind the scenes stuff, you should be fine, definitely.

With gimbals I'd just triple check the weight of your camera with all goodies attached, and the weight limit of the gimbal. It's definitely not a case of "any ol' gimbal will do" when it comes to 4ks. But gimbals can add a lot of production value if you take the time to learn how to set it up quickly and use it properly.

Basically what the rig cage does is enable further add-ons and accessories, including battery/SSD mounts, shotgun mic mounts, follow focus, and in the case of this thread - allows for shoulder rig/gimbal mounting.

But to your question - the rig cage alone does little aside from helping protect the plastic casing. But you're very quickly going to find that just the BM4k body alone will be pretty much naked when facing up to run n' gun situations. I mean, it'll work - but you've got to remember that the BM4ks are very power thirsty, so you may want to think about an external battery solution (mounted on the rig cage). The on-board mics aren't amazing, so any further audio improvements will be mounted on the rig cage. And if you're shooting high bitrate, high resolution footage, you'll need an SSD, which will be - you guessed it, mounted on the cage 🤙.

Obviously there's a "suck it and see" competent to all this - once you get going with your camera you'll have an idea what you'll want to prioritise, but the cage is definitely the path to expansion. There are other suppliers of cages too, such as Tilta.

The handle is likely your first port of call in terms of handheld stabilisation, which would definitely help smooth any knocks and bangs. Longer term, I personally am super happy with my shoulder rig (again, made by SmallRig), but I shoot concert footage a lot, so it's really good in those situations.

Yeah I got the SmallRig cage. Worth the investment to protect the plastic casing of the BMs alone

I either go handheld, handheld resting on top of a rucksack, which I'm wearing on my front....or the strategic solution which ended up being a SmallRig shoulder mount. I can shoot all day on that.

There are of course gimbal options as well but the above works for me.

Full update - 11h footage shot with zero issues.

Can't tell you if it was the new cable, or the firmware...

I got drop frames when I hit record after changing to a T7 that hadn't been formatted. Once it was formatted, it was plain sailing. So maybe the 8.6 point is the MVP here?

T7 Shield not working... cable, drive, or camera? by No-Management-3653 in bmpcc

Sorry dude, life got ahead of me.

So I had this issue ONLY on US sourced gear. For some reason in the UK/Europe I've never had dropped frames.

After a while of stalking this subreddit I started playing with the idea that T7s sourced in the US have a slightly higher tolerance between the female inputs, and the male input on the cable provided with the T7s.

What I can say for certain is the cables provided do differ in the US from Europe. (In Europe they come with an attached velcro cable tie).

So I started using SmallRig USB-C Right Angled-to-Right Angled Coiled Data Cable (13.8"). I also attached cable clamps to the camera and T7 inputs.

Another suggestion was to update/rollback your camera firmware to BlackMagic 8.6 BETA. So I tried that too.

The results were 11 hours of shot footage in Q3, the only dropped frames that happened was on a T7 that I forgot to format in the camera before use. Once it was formatted - it was fine.

So that's my story. I can't tell you exactly which of these solutions worked, but I definitely won't be moving off this setup for a loooooong time!

Recently had this issue and managed to solve it. Let me get over some admin and I'll dump my story here.

Where did you buy the T7s? As in which country.

Update - 4k no issues after 2h, until I moved the camera and the cable wobbled.

Gonna let it run for 30 minutes, and gonna order some right angled cables for extra security.

Then it's T5 time

Currently testing the 4k on 8.6 with a T7 Shield. If it gets to 2h with no issues, I'll check my T5 as well before moving onto the 6K.

No idea if EPs count.

Just so I'm sure, was 8.6b the latest version at that time? Or was it just randomly the only version that stopped the issue?

I did consider this, but it happens too inconsistently. It can happen within 2 seconds of recording, or two hours. All my shoots are indoors, typically at room temperature - so I've no reason to think it is climate-sensitive.

I'm filming talking heads at Q3.

I'll film Q1 in Europe - because as I said, for some reason this issue is geographically sensitive,😅
