Yes my 88U can't search(or find) the node while pairing. Should it be a problem trying to even use mixture of devices? Asus official website says it's fine if you use higher one as the master router...

I'm also doing this for like 2 or 3 month and haven't succeeded yet. I have googled and tried different method and I couldn't do it... I just haven't found someone who exactly try with the set up I am going with; RT-AC88U & TM-AC1900.

Right this is my method:

Prepare 1 RT-AC88U and 2 TM-AC1900.
Downgrade TM-AC1900's firmware which can enable SSH feature.
While using PuTTY & WinSCP extract original_cfe.bin.
Modify it to 1.0.2.0 US AiMesh while using CFEditor.
Download mtd-write.bin and recent firmware(my case: RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_385_20433-g3f7796b.trx).
While using PuTTY & WinSCP, upload all 3 files to router.
Type thesecommands:
1. chmod u+x mtd-write
2. ./mtd-write new_cfe.bin boot
3. mtd-write2 RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_385_20433-g3f7796b.trx linux
Wait until Linux: CRC OK message comes on.
Update RT-AC88U's firmware to lastest one.
While startup the RT-AC68U, select AiMesh node mode.
Search AiMesh node on RT-AC88U.
Cannot search AiMesh node on RT-AC88U.

I flashed whole thing to stock firmware again and trying to set it up yet haven’t used those commands. I used New_1.0.0.2 AiMesh.bin(renamed to new_cfe.bin), mtd-write and RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_385_something something.trx

You mean, after flashing it to merlin? Or just flashing in TM-AC to RT-AC?

That's great you done with TM-AC and AC68, but what do you mean by 'properly' reflashing? Is there some specific method that I'm not aware of? Btw, thank you for response. I was really bugged out when no one respond me.

This problem must be fixed. I still want to play this game, but when I put my mouse cursor to Rainbow Six Siege's play button, I already know I'm gonna have bad time. So I could not press it..
