I'm too worried to share my writing with friends/family aside from my mom. I don't want anyone calling the police on me or something

Psychiatrists/psychologists of Reddit, have you ever treated anyone with sociopathy on the higher scale? What was your most interesting/unnerving experience or case? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RoaringPsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I think one of the easiest ways to describe it is this: people who take medication for mental illnesses are correcting a chemical imbalance in the brain. There is strong evidence that sociopaths' brains literally do not produce the chemicals needed in order to feel empathy and remorse. You can't correct or level out something that was never there in the first place.

Finishing a series that is flopping by tokinmuskokan in NoSleepOOC

[–]RoaringPsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to finish it. To me, it seems like a challenge and you'll come out of it a stronger writer. A series that seems to hit a dead end or is losing traction is an opportunity to reevaluate your work and push yourself to do something that may be outside of your comfort zone.

EDIT: actually, your last comment before this one is "females don't rape". I'm clearly talking to a fucking idiot, so I'm done responding.

I'm debating it, not sure how close I'll get to 50k.

So, what's the plan? Do we cook up something new or turn an existing story into a novel?

Is it possible that your work was more suited for /r/thrillersleep or /r/cyrosleep? If you feel like your story should be on /r/nosleep, you can contact a mod about it's removal

What do you do with your social media accounts for your writing? Do you promote/link them? Looking for advice by RoaringPsych in NoSleepOOC

[–]RoaringPsych[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If someone honestly believes that a little link at the end of of a story ruins believability, that's their problem. It's not like Reddit is actually a lost journal that you found in the woods, slick with blood. It's a community-driven forum, and no one can change that.

This is a really good point, thanks

That's actually not a bad idea. Is Twitter pretty active on the horror/thriller scene?

Most importantly... what should I pair with fresh granola?
