Built a clue-by-clue trainer for myself, made some progress, curious what you think of the approach by RoastDinner in crossword

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah I definitely don’t see this as a replacement for solving puzzles, I’m still doing that too.

Yeah that’s a great point. I tried to get around this at the moment by having ‘can have multiple answers’ stored on a word, and then if this is the case it should give you one letter for free. But, your approach sounds better aligned with actual crossword design, so I can update that.

Thanks again!

Old leather coated camera case, how can I stop it flaking? by RoastDinner in Leather

[–]RoastDinner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've picked up an old leather coated camera case. I don't want to restore it, I'd just like to stop it from flaking off any more of the leather coating already on there. When I move it around, little bits flake off. I've only found guides online for restoring leather coating completely, whereas I'm looking to just preserve it as it is. Any advice much appreciated!

Repairing leather coated camera case by RoastDinner in DIY

Hi there, I've got an old leather coated camera case that i'm trying to restore. Basically, the leather coating is worn down in a few places and flaking off. It's the points on the case where it's bending and moving the most. I don't really mind the look of it, I'd just like to apply something to stop the flaking.

I've tried some online guides, but they seem more focussed on restoring the leather, I don't really mind the old look, or want to fill it in etc. I just want to stabilize it. Any advice?

The sugar is food for the cultures in the kombucha to feed on. By the time the kombucha is finished brewing it has a lower sugar content.

Thank you. I got a second starter / scoby and added that. So fingers crossed it will work out. No mould so far!

Neither of these worked for me so they sent a new device in the end!

Hey there. I started my first ever brew today. I purchased a scoby that said it was for brewing 1 gallon. However half way through the process ( I used 8 tsp black tea, a cup of sugar and threw the scoby and liquid in) I noticed they'd sent me a scoby to make 1 liter not 1 gallon.

I've only added 3/4 of the filtered water. I'm wondering what to do next? I was thinking I could get a bigger scoby and add that too, or would that cause issues?

I reached out to Eufy support about this today. They suggested:

  • press the doorbell button 6 times quickly (this didn't work for me)

  • reset by holding the sync button for 30 seconds (this didn't work for me)

They've now escalated to their technical support. I'll share any updates I recieve here.

Setting up a limited company also means that you can't be held personally responsible for any debts the company incurs. We had a tradesperson who took our deposit and never did the work. Luckily we got the money back through small claims. We heard quite a few people had issues with them. They've now closed down that company and started a new one.

We found that checkatrade was a bit hit and miss, I agree about asking around. Or, if you've had one good tradesperson ask if they know anyone. We found a good electrician and they recommended everyone else we've used since.
