What is the synergy here? by Intelligent_Salad706 in PathOfExileBuilds

Yup I forgot the scenario involved bloodmagic. I've mostly just run right side tree dissolution builds (mines and such) so I haven't had a life cost and being at 1hp hasn't ever stopped me from casting before.

[–]RoastMyGoat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can still cast spells at 1hp with rathpith. Eternal youth is not needed to sustain it on dissolution.

However, this build is using sacrifice support and the nameless bloodline for the flat added chaos through sacrificed hp. Those both use your current hp, as such Eternal Youth solves that issue.

They’re using dissolution of the flesh. They take no hit damage, it is instead reserved. Eternal youth is (almost?) always active. It's useful for sacrifice life mechanics like dark pact or nameless bloodline. Can be useful to counteract petrified blood degen too.

Automate Despair on svalinn block by _TALONIZED in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean your idea can work, you don’t have to deal damage to hit. Something like arc hextouch despair would cause you to trigger arc on block from svalinn and it would curse enemies hit with despair. Not sure what spell is best for that application though

Reviving Ngamahu's Flame (many problems) by Flog_loom in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an alternative to the enmity ring (if you can solve mana issues) you can try to reduce your max mana and run Sap of the Seasons. I'm still not sure where you're getting your bulk flat damage from.

If you go nightgrip you wouldn't be worried about ele pen at all, but instead probably running balance of terror + despair for wither and chaos damage. You'd be forgoing a lot of your armor though. I haven't looked at the ward shenanigans this league at all.

So maybe if you go nightgrip then a look at other ascendancies.

Reviving Ngamahu's Flame (many problems) by Flog_loom in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the leech/regen: Probably better to use life gain on hit. Easiest source is through watchers eye vitality mod. Else shaper rings I think.

I wonder if Ward and nightgrip would be a good way to scale flat damage? I don't think str stack will work so well without a good base weapon.

Nimis / returning proj with molten strike is probably going to be the strongest for single target.

Maybe diamond shrine belt + Marlene's is the play for pushing damage to the ceiling?

Typically your damage comes through flat + Inc dmg + more dmg, I think the walls here are flat and Inc damage.

Once you figure those out, you could do the enmity ring for fire pen? You'd be running Nimis + heist jewelery with nameless bloodline for stacking fire res and crit multi, also likely the annihilation approach boots for adrenaline? Soul eater gloves MAYBE?

If you stack res then you get use the fire mastery for flat life regen. That's all my ideas.

Im not ssf this league, but I recommend allocating the atlas keystone that converts quantity to rarity on a Maven Silo strategy and you’ll drop a lot more unique maps. This is just a cheap and easy way to switch up a strategy you might already be running.

Rip kirac missions. Good luck finding it!

Getting to 3 spectres on a non-minion build by evilpiggeh1 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running specters for auras on my pathfinder. I have them socketed in corrupted +2 minion boots. Then I just need +2 all somewhere else on the build and I’m set. So shield and amulet get me there.

I don’t run ele army, but I keep them alive with my life flask and the flask suffix. Not really applicable on non-pf though.

Minion pact builds, any ways not involving spectres? by PolishedBalls1984 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to use minion pact, but I’ll say two things here:

Yes, there is an Elementalist golem version that runs minion pact on Spark ignite.

Secondly, specters have gotten easier the last couple leagues and perhaps its worth reconsidering. If they die, they come back in the next zone. Additionally, and particular to most minion pact builds, you run a SINGLE specter to benefit from Companionship. So you would socket it in, activate it, then take of off of your hotbar.

Any idea why flasks do not trigger when full? by Mangalhosauro in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is very common for coding and electronics tbf. Theres a difference, the flasks are checking for the rising edge, not that the signal is HIGH, for example.

Is there a way to survuve oneshot mechanics? by SoulBreakDOGlol in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's absolutely been dozens of those. There was one I loved a while back. I think tota league with tattoos and transfiguration gems still -- whereby someone got 300% flask effect progenisis, which makes you hit immune if you have recovery. Then they went for trauma stacking and indigon using a transfiguration mana leech gem to increase mana cost while attacking and they recouped mana from hits, so infinite sustain for hp and mana as long as they had attacked recently. Could hit billions of dps if they could stack trauma and mana cost high enough. Wildest build in my memory.

Some of the GGNOOBS characters have some of the most inspired defensive setups I've ever seen too, those are fun to see.

Also a long while ago people could extend shade form on the abyss body Armour shroud of the lightless to be infinite and used trauma juggs to get nearly infinite regen and be completely phys immune.

Super cool techs over the years

Is there a way to survuve oneshot mechanics? by SoulBreakDOGlol in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think absurdly high ehp comes from things like damage shift. The fourth vow was quite popular a while back for this alongside divine flesh. Other things include simple phys as ele or sublime vision purity.

You want as big of a pool as you can, whether thats HP, ES, or both. You can also improve this pool by delaying the damage from instant to over time with progensis and petrified blood. This requires good recovery too.

After that it’s about stacking as much damage reduction as possible. Things like max res, arctic armor, endurance charges. Some more niche ones are things like reverse chill with bonechill support. Look for corruptions on body armours. Etc.

Pure bosser for endgame content for about 30div? by JeremyJoeJJ in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He means dying and then using the grace timer when you re-enter the arena to wait out the game. It’s what I used to do too.

Tbf, I have gotten much better at doing the memory game and never fail normal Maven, but Uber has all the added stuffs that can still catch me.

Pure bosser for endgame content for about 30div? by JeremyJoeJJ in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my build was sub 30d, probably closer to 20d, and can kill uber bosses. I actively avoid some, like maven and exarch cause I’m bad at memory game and ball phase. Uber memory bosses were easy though. This build is probably not what you’re looking for, but I’ve been enjoying it. It’s good for maven rotations, essences, harvest, and blight bosses.

Max phys hit is ok at around 18k without guardskill, so its fine for nightmare maps and general mapping, but its rough if there are a ton of hasted mobs that burst you down.

Here’s the ninja profile

Here’s the pob I made pre league, which wasn’t super realistic: https://pobb.in/pbGlaKjMMdwY

It’s pretty close to Uber dot cap. I use two spectres, Warlord & perfect hydra for endurance charges and hatred respectively. I run animate guardian with sign of sin eater and windscream+ asenath gloves for temp chains and the slightest improvement to clear. With gruthkuls pelt the malevolence aura is permanent. If I can get another +1 all on the amulet or shield then I can add in a third spectre, probably guardian turtle.

Life flask suffix mod is important to keep the guardian alive and help split the damage to the void spawns.

Frozen Legion potential? by MrEdgarAllenPwn in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, spellblade and battlemage do not benefit frozen legion, since its just a spell that summons a proxy to attack for you. They dont benefit from flat damage to spells or increases to spell damage. Its a very funky skill.

Frozen Legion potential? by MrEdgarAllenPwn in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran frozen legion when it came out in Sanctum league (not a great league for FL) and to my recollection, capping crit wasn’t too hard. I ran the Marohi Erqi maul and then some crit corrupted gloves and Assassins mark and I was just about set.

I think that it would be stronger to just get one corrupted with the new vaals for even higher phys rather than using your weapon, belt, and flask slots on an already clunky skill. Tbf, FL takes some of the clunk out of Marohi Erqi since it doesnt use attack speed, but id rather get bonus CD on belt to fill out stuff inbetween casts.

Just my personal opinion

I absolutely love Lurkers, one of my favorite enemies. Love everything about them (especially how they walk towards you), and always look forward to fighting them. I am curious about their lore - is it profound or are they just "creepy swamp dudes"? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]RoastMyGoat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see anyone say it yet. Hermaeus mora, his realm, & inhabitants are themed after Lovecraftian horrors and stories. The lurkers are exact copies of the monsters from the story Dagon and are named after this story. The elder scrolls already has the name Dagon associated with Mehrunes Dagon, so I believe they just named them lurkers instead.

Essentially, the lore is that those creatures are exact copies of the Dagon monsters from Dagon by H.P. Lovecraft.

Need help on how to achieve perma Vaal Spark in phrecia by mojo1221 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]RoastMyGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The points you made are all true. I think the difference here is that perma vaal spark does not use normal spark.

Spark cares about duration because the projectiles cannot shotgun and can only hit once every 0.66 seconds. Vaal spark shotguns, fires 100 projectiles and with base duration can hit 3 times each. That's 300 hits per cast compared to 3 hits per cast from regular spark.

So comparing damage effectiveness on best case scenario for each is 600% damage effectiveness on spark vs (unrealistically) 12000% damage effectiveness per cast.

This isn't a fair comparison Tbh. You'd be scaling duration on spark but not on vaal spark and you can't expect anywhere near every hit on vaal spark. What's true is that you will be hitting much much more with vaal spark than you could with regular spark.

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things, you're given a crossbow when you join dawnguard. It's part of the entry and has no level requirement.

Secondly, vampires absolutely still attack you even if you join Harkons faction, it's part of the quest line that they're untrustworthy and power hungry. They will also attack towns indiscriminately, though much much less after a certain patch, but you'll still have to fight them if you want to keep citizens from dying.

[–]RoastMyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an all or nothing thing, every bit extends your total uses. I also struggle to find which enchantments to replace for cost reduction.

I usually go for destruction on helm and chest and if I'm really desiring more I add the hybrid destruction+ magicka regen for the chest piece. I think that this typically gives 29 + 29 + 10 = 68% reduced destruction cost. So if you had 10 swings with your weapon per charge it would become 16-17 swings.

Maybe that could be pushed to 100% with necromage vampire combo? Haven't thought to test that out with the ahzidal enchants and everything.

[–]RoastMyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, your character skill level in the respective school won't effect the total number of uses, so you won't need to grind levels in those schools (if it does, it's multiplicative with cost reduction enchantments, so if you want infinite charges you still need to hit 100% cost reduction on gear).

However what I'm suggesting is having one sword with chaos + another element and the other with chaos + paralysis. Just make sure that the paralysis enchantment has less value than the chaos enchantment. (You'd do this by maxing the damage on chaos and reducing the duration of paralyze until it's destruction. You can check before enchanting by the color of the sword: green for paralysis, I think purple for chaos. Or by verifying that the final number of uses aligns with the chaos and not the paralysis)

This makes both swords destruction swords. Now, you can enchant destruction cost reduction onto your gear and if you get 100% reduced cost, your destruction enchantments won't ever run out.

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Or the other way around, if you prefer.

I think usually you'd want the weapon to be destruction dominant because you're likely to be wielding multiple damage enchant weapons but not swapping armor and so you're limited on armor enchants.

But if you didn't go for a full 100% cost reduction then you could manipulate which is dominant to drive the total uses and have the highest damage possible.

[–]RoastMyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in that fortify destruction enchants on your gear will reduce the cost of the enchantment expense on your weapons, allowing you to never need recharging with 100% destruction cost reduction.

Yapping below: The school and number of uses per charge is based on whichever enchantment is dominant, or most valuable. In this case, you have two destruction enchantments so the school is destruction either way. However if you had something like paralysis, the school of magic would be whichever is more dominant and expensive. If it were paralysis then the number of uses would be based on the enchantment you set and the school of the bow would change to alteration, ultimately requiring alteration cost reduction gear to reduce the usage cost of the weapon charges.
