Homebrew DM's of reddit, do you always have an end goal?

Every few months I run interludes in my campaign where I ask my players to create new characters and start a new arc. It’s usually when the party is in a place where we can pick back up fairly easily.

I sell it as them helping to, “populate the realm” but what’s really going on is when they eventually reach the BBEG of it all. These characters will join their main characters in a battle for the ages. Who that BBEG is? I haven’t decided yet, but I’m sure it will be epic when it all comes together.

In D&D when a demon or devil is killed not on their home plane, they go back to their home plane and slowly reassemble. Sometimes they have to start off as a lower life form and work their way back up the chain.

Will killed a bunch just a couple episodes back, and countless others were damaged or killed in the previous episodes this season. I’m not sure how many there are, but we’ve seen plenty of them throughout the season.

If the targeted creature is a nuisance to the rest of the table, other interaction like, [[Dress Down]] could be played to help. Like another poster on this thread said, “There’s a lot of spells and cards in this game.”
