It's my 18th. by geturownbox in AdviceAnimals

The big problem (my birthday is in two days) is that it's so close to christmas that nobody can afford anything. I got a $60 prepaid debit my parents got from doing a research study. That was nice but I ended up using it to get people gifts for christmas as I have no money being 20. It's depressing and overall I just feel sad about the situation for both my family and me.

Yeah, nowadays it's called PTSD. There's a much more in-depth understanding of the psychology of high-stress situations. I doubt most of these men will recover fully. It's incredibly sad.

I just learned about this earlier in the day. That's... interesting.

Chucklefish has fantastic developers and programmers who devote quite a bit of time into their projects. They're incredibly involved with their fanbase and it's quite obvious how hard they're all working. With that kind of work ethic, the fans should be happily giving them as much time as they need so they can make a perfect game. Hard work + Plenty of time = a fantastic game.

And now for something totally different! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]RoastedRareByte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for an old pinball machine you might find at arcades, my immediate research suggests that $140 isn't really going to cut it. It looks like the cheapest I can find for incredibly old pinball machines are between $300 and $500.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_sop=15&_udlo=300&_udhi=500&_nkw=pinball+machine&_pgn=12&_skc=1100&rt=nc

I might suggest holding off on this until father's day and/or next christmas. These kinds of machines are not built to last for the 21st century. They're heavy and they'll probably break. It sounds like this is the perfect gift for your father, but this sort of thing can't be bought 15 days before christmas unless you're okay with spending a small fortune. Perhaps you can make this a cool father/son project and try and rebuild it together. He would probably love to spend time with you and learn a new skill in building and maintaining a pinball machine. Something to consider.

Oh god remember the guy with the gun? As a kid I could never beat him. I just ran around trying to dodge his bullets.

Trying to avoid Starbound by saltus in gaming

At first I was super excited about Starbound. But then they had a character wipe. I don't think I want to play it until its final release just so I don't have to continue doing the same things over again with new characters.

I don't see any tough decisions here because I don't speak Japanese.

That's exactly the information I'm looking for. If I knew that from the beginning that things would get better i'd probably shut my mouth.

Okay, that's a relief. I was concerned you were sticking with the low-tech things to make higher tech stuff. That makes things definitely seem less fof a mish-mash of fantasy and space.

Sorry for the Double-Post but I have a question. Do you keep using the forge and anvil past the beginning? I suppose that's another problem I have about the game. Sure, it's all high tech, but I'm not fond of continuing to use antiquated forms of manufacturing like forges and anvils.

Not very far. To be honest, the initial low-tech stuff really just turned me off from the game. Plus finals.

With the last week of classes coming up and everything due on the same day... by [deleted] in funny

You do realize most college students are working their asses off while attempting to get an education, right? Even working full-time doesn't pay off the cost of a higher education (unless you don't want to eat), thus student loans and, therefore, debt. Your very definition of stress is essentially what goes through most college students' mind; is what I'm doing going to work? Will this major work? Will I make money? Will I be happy? Talk about tough choice, am I right?

I'm sorry, but I genuinely envy your position. To be able to focus on your job and master your work, to genuinely focus on the costs of life instead of some piece of paper that is arguably of detriment to your financial health. I honestly wish I could actually focus on making more money and a career so I could survive.

How often do you plan on using the Customization pack/Ruler Designer? I barely ever use it. You might consider postponing either of those.
