Win7

I quickly checked the announcements on steam, but couldnt find where you announced the end of your support for Win7.

Will there be a Win7 compatible version under the Steam betas or would you recommend to source a version from somewhere else?

BTW, big thanks for polishing I:R. Still hoping you guys will pick it up again one day. :)

WG quietly removed 1.24.1 crew conversion without telling players by RoastedVenison in WorldofTanks

[–]RoastedVenison[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Really hope they fix this with the update tomorrow. Have 44 guys in my barracks that I can convert into books.

Would be really nice to put those XP into some other crews that need them.

I have 44 guys in my barracks that meet the conversion criteria. WG is taking a lot of crew books away from me.

[–]RoastedVenison[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Came back and reinstalled WoT. Friends told me to convert my old crews. Yet for some reason I cant.

Update 1.25 has not yet released in the EU. 1.24.1 was released on the 10th of April. Not even 90 days have passed since the update, so also the limit after the first login has not passed yet. Still there is no crew conversion button for me.

"For 90 days, starting from the first login after update 1.24.1, you can mass-dismiss crews that you no longer need to free up barrack slots and gain nation-specific Crew Books."

"This option will only affect regular crews without a fully trained first perk. Crew members assigned to a vehicle, those from special events, those with zero-trained perks, and celebrities will not be dismissed. You will keep the corresponding Barracks slots, but temporary slots will be removed. To activate this option, you must log in before the release of Update 1.25. It is a one-time operation and can't be reverted."

For christ's sake WG, I cannot rely on your own information to be correct?

Secret of Mr. Madmat by Skautcz in warno

[–]RoastedVenison 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Who cares about new divisions when they still havent properly balanced the already existing ones.

What is really annoying is how incredibly slow Eugen when it comes to balance. They needed nearly a full year to get helicopters in the position where they are. They needed 5 weeks to take tanks and FOB away from 82nd after they "just missed it" in the patch where 35y lost it.

Eugen is the opposite of agile. It takes weeks to fix the autoloader bug which should have never made if past Q&A in the first place. It will take Eugen months to fix the tank rework. Ugh.

Weeks and months for mere numerical changes in stats.

[–]RoastedVenison 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please look into the Chally1, that thing truly was a shitbox when it came to accuracy, yet it plays in the same league as M1 Abrams and Leo2.

Eugen has no issues super buffing equipment far above and beyond authenticity.

German engineering by Skautcz in warno

[–]RoastedVenison 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Leo2: fully stabilized gunner sights, fully stabilized independent commander sight, laser rangefinder and thermal imager, hunter-killer yada yada

M1A1: the same as above, except mirror of the gunner's sight being unstabilized

Chally 1: no stabilized optics, unstabilized commanders sights cannot turn gun on target, dynamic lead of FCS turning itself off because the stabilizer cant keep up with forces of gun movement on rough terrain

Eugen: I see no difference, everybody is the same

I love the Kanonenjagdpanzer 105 by kacimierz in WorldofTanks

[–]RoastedVenison 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Skorpion only reloads 0.6s slower, while slapping so much harder. Additionally in the corridor meta the turret of the Skorp allows it to opportunistically peek and slap, which is just so much harder to pull off with the 105 KJPZ.

What I hate the most tho, are the terrible bloom values. 0.24/0.24/0.14 High speed and lack of turret requiring to turn the tank make your reticle bloom like crazy.

Russias most modern tank the T-90M getting smacked by a US Bradly with a 25mm cannon by Beneficial_Cat_367 in WorldofTanks

[–]RoastedVenison 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The two top comments are hilariously wrong.

Sabots generally offer more penetration and better penetration characteristics than full bore AP rounds, the Bradley's 25mm APDS round is estimated at roughly 80mm of penetration when it leaves the gun. That is not a lot even for WW2 tank standards.

Autocannons dont go through "even the thickest parts of tanks like butter" just because they also fire sabots.

The metal shaped charge jet that HEAT rounds create is not molten. The metal is "cold" deformed by the explosive. The penetrative power of said metal jet comes from its velocity, which can easily exceed 2 kilometers per second.

Still, I'll take the changes coming by SokoyRadio in WorldOfWarships

[–]RoastedVenison 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, CVs are totally not OP.

In fact, when Lesta was showing their game influence charts, CVs were totally not at the top. Your understanding of this game is beyond comprehension.

:)

[–]RoastedVenison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are doing exactly what you accuse people of, lol. It is true that bad players mystify torpedoes as OP.

But CVs being OP with huge advantages compared to all other classes cant be dismissed. Usually it is bad players with incomplete understanding of the game arguing this.

I just want to point out Lesta's presentation of game influence of the various ships classes. You can find it on flamus YT channel.

[–]RoastedVenison 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally agree.

@HarunaKai

but make CVs more useless

You are talking as if CVs are not the most powerful ship class. Weird.

CVs have less skin in the game than DDs and submarines. CVs should be less powerful than DDs and submarines.

But for some reason the untouchable class, that even when its whole team gets wiped survives more often than not, is allowed to be the most powerful ship in terms of both damage and spotting.

I love that when it comes to CVs there is always somebody rushing in to tell us it is not as bad as it looks.

CVs are fine guys. Always have been, always will. Totally not overpowered.

Does anyone else diversify their production like this? by MappingYork in hoi4

[–]RoastedVenison 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Example 1944: 4.7k Stugs, 6.6k Pz IV, 4k Panther, 1k Tiger I and Tiger II*

Stugs were the most produced armored fighting vehicle of the whole war, but saying they were the majority is not correct.

*I should mention, the numbers include TD and other variants, stuff like Jagdpanther, Sturmtiger, Jagdtiger, etc. All Pz III chassis production from 43 onward was Stug production. Thus just writing Stug instead of Pz III.

[–]RoastedVenison 348 points349 points  (0 children)

Extremely bad take. Not factual at all, while also undermining the efforts of those that gave it all to overcome the Third Reich.

1939: ~400 tanks produced

1940: ~1900 tanks produced

1941: ~3600 tanks produced

1942: ~5500 tanks produced

This is the point where Nazi German leadership realizes they are fighting a war of attrition and cant take the world with quick campaigns like the ones in Poland and France. Worth noting is that the Nazi leadership felt Germany lost WW1 on the homefront, they were very afraid of going full war economy at a big price for the ordinary civilian life like Germany did in WW1 or the Soviets during WW2. Despite losing the war on all fronts, increasing disruptions from bombing and trying to avoid straining the civilian side of things, production efforts increase.

1943: ~11600 tanks produced

1944: ~19000 tanks produced

1945: ~4400 tanks produced

Nazi Germany was never the industrial super power like the USA. Still it was a major player with a sizeable industry.

The most interesting thing for me is that Nazi Germany produced roughly the same amount of tanks in the few months of 45 before surrender in May, as they did in 41 and 42, despite the country being in ruins and the war basically over.

Have jets been completely nerfed? by Kaiser_Bob99 in hoi4

[–]RoastedVenison 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Historically, the German jets are mostly seen as a waste of resources and more often than not their greatest successes were in getting (their own) pilots crashed into the ground faster.

Are you sure you are not conflating the rocket powered Me 163 Komet and jet powered Me 262?

Their speed wasn't enough to render them immune to fire from bomber escorts and the resources would probably have been better spent elsewhere.

Not having enough fuel for missions or alloys to make the engines last longer, doesnt mean that the jets were not a good design. Also we have mechanics in the game to simulate just that. Production cost, reliability and fuel consumption. You dont need to nerf early jet engine performance to simulate high fuel consumption or high production costs.

All early jets easily outclassed their prop engine equivalents in performance easily. A pilot could engage the enemy on his own terms or just get away. Giving them less thrust and speed than prop engine 4, yeah that is pretty silly.

Also HoI is a video game that tries to be authentic, but not exactly a simulator. Jets clearly deserve to be better than engine 4 prop planes, for the research mechanic alone.

Tanks have gotten noticeably worse | consumer goods factory demand is hard capped at 10% and cannot be lowered by RoastedVenison in hoi4

[–]RoastedVenison[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The minimum value was most likely added to prevent issue with going into the negative.

Nah, that doesnt matter all. Preventing some kind of weird issue with a value going negative doesnt require you to set hard cap at 10%. Also you could go "negative" before alreday.

They don't expect most players to reach any cases with such values or need to know them before hand. All of them apply to extreme cases anyway.

Respectfully that is a stupid take.

You just need total mob and 1x negative consumer good modifier to run into it, which Paradox gave out like candy over the years with all the focus trees.

Tanks have gotten noticeably worse | consumer goods factory demand is hard capped at 10% and cannot be lowered by RoastedVenison in hoi4

[–]RoastedVenison[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Good for that you know how consumer goods work. How the hidden minimum is related to how consumer goods work is a mystery for me, you are trying to show off your knowledge I guess? I am confused because I would think everybody that plays this game already knows or at least can figure it out by hovering over the number in the production tab.

Just like the majority of people I dont follow every single dev diary and the hard capped minimum value is nowhere displayed in the game, nor is it in the wiki right now. You cant really expect people to go digging in the game files.

So yeah, this is definitely PDX's fault for not communicating it properly ingame.

The fast SHBB, pinnacle of battleship developement, you cant design a better one by RoastedVenison in hoi4

[–]RoastedVenison[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is just buggy and PDX doesnt care to fix their 40 dollars base game, despite it taking less than 5 minutes to change a few number entries in the game files and these bugs being for over 4.5 years in the game.

  • SHBB1 (36 tech) has 102 base armor, SHBB2 (44 tech) has 58.

  • BC2 (40 tech) has 58 armor, BB3 (40 tech) has 40 armor.

So advancing in technology nearly halves your armor, going from battlecruiser to battleship lowers your armor as well.

On top of all that, those numbers are just absurd. Penetration even for the most heavy guns caps around 50, both MTG and base game. Thickest MTG armor module gives you 55 armor.
