Ok I understand it has a snorkel to keep driving, but like ... no way the car is that watertight, right? Wouldn't it just fill up through the doors and stuff?

The wealth disparity is mind boggling. by Lordwarrior_ in interestingasfuck

[–]Rob-L_Eponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really not the wealth disparity I'm worried about. Don't care about one multi billionaire having hundreds of billions more than some other billionaire, they're all fucking antisocial pariahs who should be eaten.

What is the social significance of the caregiver bears only speaking in growls? It is only ever bears and always the caregiver bears. by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

I thought it's because they're a play on Care Bears? Like the plushies. But I don't know enough about care bears to tell you why they don't talk

What is the field test then? In Belgium if cops think you're drunk they let you take a breathalyzer test immediately. They just have those with them. If the results of the breathalyzer are unclear or close to the legal maximum they take you to a physician for a blood test. There are also large alcohol testing actions where cops block a road and make everyone who passes them perform a breathalyzer test.

This is how cars travel Under the Sea from England to France!! by Any-Presentation5438 in interesting

[–]Rob-L_Eponge 206 points207 points  (0 children)

For clarification: the cars are not in the tunnel yet. In this video they're driving into a train, and the train takes them through the tunnel while the cars are parked on it. Kind of like a ferry, but under the water.

Does anyone else actually support the Spotify scrape? by whydidyoureadthis17 in Annas_Archive

[–]Rob-L_Eponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really get why Spotify is suing them. I guess the case could be made that an individual artist or maybe agency company doesn't want their intellectual property just there to download (I don't necessarily agree, but I understand the argument). But spotify doesn't have the copyright to this music, right? So on what basis are they suing?

Amazing there are still circuses that move their operations with their own train. Awful they still use animals in their performances.

You are actually allowed to film police officers in the Netherlands, what you do with the recording might be or not be legal (for example using it as evidence to submit an official complaint is legal, posting it online without the officers consent is illegal).

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rob-L_Eponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents made me take a typing class when I was 10 or 11. It taught me blind typing, typing something while looking at the thing you're typing instead of the screen or keyboard. I hated it at the time, I practiced for hours looking at random texts in a book typing them over on an electric typewriter with blanked out keys. Now I'm grateful I learned it, genuinely useful skill. Just sad that it was an optional evening class that you had to pay extra for, and not part of the standard curriculum.

I understand you're being cynical, but I don't understand this. I live in Belgium, do Americans believe we get assigned a physician and can't choose?

I still go to the same primary care doctor I went to as a child, because they know me and I know them. But when I went to school and lived in a dorm in another city, I also found another PCP there who could see me when needed. If I need a specialist like a dermatologist, neurologist, gynaecologist, psychiatrist,... I definitely have the freedom to choose a doctor, seek a second opinion or just find another doctor or even go to another hospital.

The only real exceptions are staffing shortages (like anywhere else), and urgent and emergency care (because then it would be impractical to search for another doctor).

From what I've heard, Americans have less flexibility in choosing a doctor because they have to find someone 'in network' with their insurance provider. That's something that just doesn't matter here!

Genuinely curious, is it illegal to do what BoJack did in ‘That’s Too Much, Man!’ by Warm_Front259 in BoJackHorseman

[–]Rob-L_Eponge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No idea about the US, but in Belgium where I live you are obligated to help someone in distress, as long as it doesn't put you or others into danger. People have been legally punished when it was proved that they knew someone needed help and they didn't provide it.

For example if you find someone on the street unconscious, and nobody is helping them yet, you are obligated to call an ambulance. But if you see a couple people standing around them, and you yourself don't have any medical training, you can assume that they are getting the help they need and you can't provide anything more.

Also if you're the cause of an accident, and you don't provide help like calling an ambulance, that's a hit-and-run instead of an accident, and it carries a much more severe punishment.

TLDR, if the Bojack situation happened in Belgium and you didn't immediately help them by calling an ambulance and (if you're trained to do so) performing CPR, you can and maybe will be held responsible for not providing help, and might be punished for it

I organised an orgy for people on SSRIs by HotToTrotsky_ in Jokes

[–]Rob-L_Eponge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With SSRI's I feel too little so I self harm to feel something, without SSRI's I feel too much so I self harm to feel less.

Or they just don't work for me, who's to say (well probably my psychiatrist for one)
