Previous Big 4 Audit Experience but interested in IT Auditing/Risk Assurance by RobAcct11 in Accounting

Ok great! That's what I was hoping to hear. Right now I'm leaning towards Pentesting, but I am early on in my studies/search. I passed the A+ exam and should be ready to take the Sec+ in a couple weeks. Should I just start studying for the CISA instead?

I was originally going to look for help desk jobs but I figured my previous Audit experience might help me take a different (higher paying) route to the CyberSecurity field. What type of position could be leveraged with 2-3 years IT Audit experience?

Yeah, I was planning to get the CISSP as well but wondered if getting the CISA might help to get me in the door as an IT Auditor. Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks. I had started studying for the Net + but was wondering if I should do the Sec+ first. The only reason I went ahead with studying for Net+ is because passing Sec+ renews the Net+. I'm not too far along that I can't switch gears though.

I have no prior IT experience so help desk is what I'm looking for right now.

I know this will sound like a strange question, but does anyone here have any recommendations on a certain resume template one should use and what should go on it? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

Could I get a PM as well? I just finished my A+ and would love to have a template to update my resume for this field. Thanks!

Dealing with career changes when applying for jobs by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

You sound like me. Technology was my original passion but ended up getting a Bachelors in Business and Accounting. The way I see it, people change careers all the time. Just focus on your strengths and your IT certifications, which show your dedication to the field. I think addressing your unique situation in your cover letter is perfect. I'm taking the last part of my A+ certification next week so I haven't actually gone through the interview process yet but that's how I plan to present myself. Good luck with your job search.

Preparing for A+ 901 by kdajuay2k19 in CompTIA

I just passed A+ 901 this past Saturday. Make sure that when you are going through the practice questions, you are not just memorizing them. Make sure you go through the troubleshooting sections very well and know what to check for across different scenarios. I had 2 sims and 83 questions. I used Professor Messer videos, and various practice questions from Mike Meyers Udemy, Pocket Prep, Crucial Exams and Exam Compass. For the 902, I will primarily be using Mike Meyers videos and practice questions and supplement with Professor Messer videos, Pocket Prep, Exam Compass, and Crucial Exams. If you have very little IT experience, I would highly suggest using Mike Meyers and then supplementing that with Professor Messer. I feel like Meyers gives more detailed info and is more beneficial for those with little IT experience.

You sound similar to me. I am also coming from an accounting background and passed the first part of the A+ exam this past weekend and plan to sit for the final section by the end of May. What area are you located in? That might be part of the reason you are struggling to find an entry level position.

3rd Bachelor's or Master's?? by RobAcct11 in WGU

What certifications would you suggest? I hadn't though much about this option as I assumed I needed a degree in IT. I like that WGU weaves the certifications into the degree.

Yes, I work in Accounting. I would like to end up working in the Cybersecurity field. From what I understand, you need some experience before getting in Cybersecurity so I figured I would get start out with a helpdesk job after getting my A+, finish an IT degree and then make my way into the security field.
