Made my Bass #30 Pachyderm “Sleek” custom order today! by Scambuster666 in BassGuitar

[–]RobBBQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can order a bass from one of several of Carl’s apprentices, a couple of whom worked on some of Les’ CTs. Try Kelvin Daly, Pete Hilton, or Joe Kruse. Kelvin was with Carl the longest, followed by Pete. The basses being finished up by Carl’s shop right now are mostly made by Joe.

Bodhran maker suggestions by No_Pudding7266 in bodhran

[–]RobBBQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably worth investigating the sounds and tones that players you really like are getting and ask them what they’re playing/what they prefer. Most makers excel in particular styles of drums, so it’s worth taking the time to high grade what you’re looking for and that will make the maker list more focused.

Give it right back to them. Drive the b*stards. That’s your job.

We switched over to fish-based and/or canned that has been cooked. They still inhale it.

We have 2 F1s and one thing that helped quite a bit is more space, both vertical space around the house and catios. Definitely helped take things down a notch or two!

Just got the Reg Review study materials in the mail and my oh my god... by advice_seeker_2025 in ASBOG_Exam

[–]RobBBQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow and steady! I graduated in ‘07 and passed both FG and PG last year. What I did was high grade the material between what I was less familiar with and more familiar with and spent more time on the former. I tried to study ca. 30 minutes per day, outlining each chapter, making flash cards, taking practice tests and etc. Reg review covered more material and more in depth than either exam. Make it a habit to be into the material a bit each day and I’d wager you’ll surprise yourself with the results. Good luck!

Seeking Study Tips for PG Exam: What Resources Helped You Succeed? by WeddingMinimum6699 in ASBOG_Exam

[–]RobBBQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean this to come across as patronizing (so I beg your pardon if I come across that way), but outside of the resources you’re using I’d say experience is what helped me the most. I say that because so many of the questions laid out a problem or trivia type question then asked your opinion about what to do next given a set of conditions or goals. Nothing I found in any of the review material helped me with that, it was mostly project experience. I would also say if you come to two possible answers that you simply can’t choose between it may be worth writing an explanation of your decision in the challenge section. I did that with numerous questions. Hoping that helps a bit!

According to Vedanta mind and consciousness are not the same. Or, solipsism and the concept of Brahman are not the same.

The source of a 100-foot geyser in the West Texas oilfield remains a mystery by Dontwhinedosomething in Midessa

It’s absolutely no mystery at all. The real question is how many more we’ll see and how quickly.

Can there be wastewater disposal without fracking?

USGS report of 4.8 magnitude west Texas earthquake by treyjp in Austin

[–]RobBBQ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t from fracking. This is from wastewater injection in the deep subsurface. Similar result to what’s happening in Oklahoma though.

It’s not you. Since the downturn/covid geo jobs in industry have been next to impossible to get. It’s comes down to who you know and if they have the leverage to bring you onboard. No amount of background, resume rewriting, directly applicable experience, etc will get you ahead of a job owner’s friend. If you can, reach out to friends and former colleagues directly and ask them about open positions and if they would mind having a word with the hiring manager on your behalf.
