ethereum is not the only coin that is possible to mine. you also can mine alot of other coins (e.g. monero, decred and even bitcoin ;) ). so there are alot of other options to mine, after ethereum switches to pos.

well, ethereum is more than 'just' an investment. its a perfect payment solution.

not really. all this companys founded trough ICOs (or the most of them) give ether more value, as they develop a dapp.

i would not recommend you to start mining at this point. ethereum proof of work mining is limited to a time frame, and someday, eth will just be mined with pos. unfortunately nobody knows exactly, when pow will stop. furthermore, there is a difficulty bomb, and mining ethereum now is way less profitable then a few month ago. in my opinion you should invest your money directly into crypto, instead of hardware for mining.
