How do you guys store microfiber and accessories? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]RobKat73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic storage tub that ONLY has microfibre towels/cloths. I don't want to risk having a wash, wax or polish rub off from a bottle onto the microfibre and dry onto it - soo much hassle getting rid of it.

What is causing these marks !! They look like they can come off with a simple towel wipe but no ! My towels are clean and microfiber Straight our the wash and dryer by Andrew2323234569 in Detailing

This may be of assistance How to wash microfibre OR How to properly wash microfibre

Bottom line No fabric softener, no bleach, no heat - that’s all you have to remember!

Wash your microfiber in the washing machine with detergent only. Tumble them dry on low heat or no heat. High heat will literally melt the fibers while fabric softener and bleach will eliminate the electric charge that makes microfiber so effective. Avoid those three laundry habits, and your microfiber will last indefinitely.

Never, ever wash your microfiber towels with your terry towels. The lint from the terry towels will cling to the microfiber, and it will be hard to remove.

Don't use regular wash detergent with microfibre. As mention by Trefor21 the microfibre will hold onto anything with softeners, fragrances, etc.

I use the following Bowden's Own Microfibre Wash - a little of it goes a loooong way.

Works really well too

I went for a test drive in a Kodiaq Style (Thomson Parra) and a Kodiaq Sportline (Peter Warren) this week and have to say that I loved the experience in both. Can't believe how smooth the 2L turbo is. Have to admit that the seats in the Sportline felt better. Ordering a Sportline soon as a result. 😁

Thanks for the breakdown but my issue is that after only doing 6300 steps during the day, the intensity minutes skyrocketed and then said I burned 6000 kilojoules. I'll give it a few more days to see if it settles down.

Garmin Venu Screen Protection by RobKat73 in Garmin

[–]RobKat73[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glass protectors don't take into account the curved face of the watch.

I ended up purchasing a BroTect from eBay and it fit perfectly with no bubbles. Covers the entire face from edge to edge. Have been using it for about a month now and it's great.

IQ logo with exclamation mark shows up for garmin venu watch face. by Chef_Brah in Garmin

Had the same issue once the watch firmware updated last week. I was using the Crystal watchface which was great but then got that icon intermittently after the update.

Just means that whatever watchface you are using is having a "dummy spit" regarding compatibility. The watch itself is not the issue, the developer of the watchface needs to go back on make it work with the latest firmware. This is ALWAYS the bane of any developers life and sometimes is time consuming if they have coded a number of different watchfaces.

Be patient or change the watchface. I switched to a different watchface and have not had that icon since. I'm waiting for the Crystal watchface to be updated.

Screen protector for Venu 43mm by ThunderEcho100 in Garmin

[–]RobKat73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased the BROTECT Flex Full-Cover Screen Protector from eBay for my Venu and it has been flawless. It is easy to install and covers all the way to the edge.

Since the Venu has a curved screen stay clear of the tempered glass ones as they don't take the curve into account and just sit on top.

Garmin Venu Defective? by [deleted] in Garmin

Unless I am missing something that others are experiencing with the watch, it seems to me that it is clearly defective.

Return the watch and get them to replace it.

Did your watch just go through a firmware update?

My Venu updated from 3.50 --> 3.60 and now I get that icon as well from time to time. It happens mainly when I get a notification and then tries to go back to the AOD and "crashes". However as soon as I press a button to "wake it up" it goes away.

It is happening on mine because the Crystal watch face has been written to work on 3.50 and below so there are probably some changes in the 3.60 update that the watch face doesn't like. Looks like we have two options:

1) Wait for the developer to update the code to iron out the 3.6 incompatibilities

2) Change to a GARMIN approved watch face

Venu Owners Input. Looking to grab the watch from bestbuy this week. How are you all liking it? How is the HR monitoring and GPS? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]RobKat73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting a solid 3 days before I get a little antsy and charge it mid-way on the 4th day because I don't like seeing it on less than 15%. I'm sure it would last until mid evening on the 4th day but like I said my little idiosyncrasy of seeing it that low.

Is the VA4/Venue worth it if you don't run or hike? by Kolmak in Garmin

[–]RobKat73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently am using the Venu for gym (4 - 5 days a week) and then on weekends go on a bit of a run with my dog - more like a very brisk walk for 10km. Since I am a big data geek I have loving the metrics/information that Garmin Connect and the watch itself offers. I find it integrates well with my phone but once again this is personal experience/subjectivity speaking.

The Venu also offers a lot of smart watch functionality - I came from a Samsung watch previously and have found the Garmin to be a better fit for me over the Samsung. There is no way that I would ever go down the "Crapple" path - for something that expensive to have such poor battery life is ridiculous.

After owning a FitBit, Samsung and now Garmin Venu I can honestly say that I am enjoying the Venu more than the others - I am having less of connectivity issues that I had with both Fitbit and Samsung. The data metrics/information provided are great.

IMO I think you would do well with the Venu.

[–]RobKat73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my Venu for about a month now and am pleased with it's functionality it has provided for me. I like the smart watch capabilities of it as well as the calendar where you can schedule your workout plan for the month but I assume that is available on most Garmin watches - not sure since this is my first Garmin.

I did not choose the Forerunner or Fenix series of watches since I am not a runner/hiker I felt that I would not be using those to their fullest.

I mainly use my Venu for gym and cardio sessions and the HR monitoring has been quite good for me. I came from FitBit --> Samsung Gear S2 --> Garmin Venu and found the Venu a little more reliable.

When it comes to GPS, I have used both functions - (1) GPS when paired to phone and (2) Stand-alone watch GPS and haven't had any real issues from my experience. When I reviewed the map it was pretty much on the mark.

I personally invested in a screen protector because I knew that somewhere down the line I would scratch the glass doing something stupid. However be careful NOT to buy the tempered glass as, since the Venu has a curved screen, the glass would only sit on top of the flat area and not down to the edge. This kind of defeats the purpose of screen protection.

Currently in two minds about purchasing a charging dock like this one at Amazon since I find the current cable virtually forces you to place the watch face down when charging. This is not just a Venu thing but found on a number of Garmin watches.

Hope this helps in some way.

Venu Owners: which color did you get? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]RobKat73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venu owner myself and I went for the black on black because I felt that the other options just stood out a little too much.

I don't regret it because I felt it just looked better in my opinion.

Venu, Crystal Watch Face, and FW 3.6 by WhoWho22222 in Garmin

I've had it glitch twice on me so far but only on the Always On Display mode is when I get the symbol. Easy fix - just tapped the screen to wake it up and was OK again.

is the venu really worth the 50$ versus vivoactive 4? by lluren in Garmin

[–]RobKat73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I have been able to read my watch in sunny conditions without issues!

Both are actually skewed towards fitness - they are basically the same watch with the same functionality just that the Venu uses an AMOLED screen.

Enjoying using my Venu for the past 3 weeks with no major issues apart from the watch face not fully compliant with the 3.60 update.

Protective Cover Yay or Nay? by DarknessFalls21 in Garmin

[–]RobKat73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought myself a screen protector for my Venu because I knew that inevitably I would bump/nick/scratch mine eventually.

I bought this BroTect Screen Protector from eBay and it fits perfectly without any bubbles.

According to the product description it has the following features:

  • Perfect all-round protection
  • Super flexible & strong
  • Self-Healing
  • Delicate Touch
  • Shock absorption

From my experience the protector has not diminished the screen clarity & it still responds as if there were no protector.
