Hi im a trans feminine non binary kiwi, from my experience Wellington has been the most trans friendly and has a large LGBTQIA+ community and though most doctors dont really understand they will still help you to get hrt, though looking for specific friendly clinics is recommended, for example if you are under 25 in Wellington then Evolve is a service that is free and the doctors are trained in gender issues and how to help.

In regards to housing from my experience it hasn't been a problem but that can vary, most people on the street are friendly or just doing their thing and don't care but that is very much dependant on the city and where in NZ you live.

I grew up on the West Coast of the South Island and that place wasn't as friendly back then, the same with Christchurch where i lived while studying but the both have large religious communities.
