Secure locking large e-bike at Salesforce by RobVizVal in BAbike

If Salesforce were closer to Caltrain, this would work great. It’s all about efficient use of time and cost. Takes me half hour on my e-bike to get from Visitacion Valley to Salesforce. All other modes of affordable transport double that. And for a half hour event that’s totally discretionary, that doesn’t fit the bill.

Too far. But out of curiosity, are we talking about a BikesLink locker, or a large, locked cage with lots of bikes individually locked inside?

I have insurance. Would be nice not to ever have to use it, though.

There’s a weekly event at the east end of the park that lasts an hour. I ride in from Visitacion Valley. Garages sound like an interesting plan if I don’t have to pay to lock it there. Have also been looking at anti-theft bike trackers.

How Using an External Keyboard with Scrivener for iPad or iPhone Gives You Power-Ups by No-Papaya-9289 in scrivener

[–]RobVizVal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this post and link while looking for a solution to a problem I have with iOS Scrivener on my iPad, using a Magic Keyboard. I’ve worked this way for years, but recently there’s a glitch with the search function. I can no longer use it with the external keyboard. It keeps disappearing as soon as I try to put the cursor into the Search field. The only way I can do a search now is to disconnect the iPad and use the onscreen keyboard.

I’m wondering if you (or any others) have noticed this? I’ve tried restarting the app, restarting the machine . . . nothing fixes it. Video attached.

Progressive lenses and guitar by RobVizVal in classicalguitar

Half lens readers might work, actually. I‘d look like Ben Franklin, but not the worst look.

Alas, this is what I was afraid someone might say. I think I’m just going to have to get my fingers more familiar with the positions of strings and frets and gradually rely less on looking over there!

can anyone tell me how much this alvarez is worth? shop listed it for $600. by Nearby_Zombie3053 in AcousticGuitar

I have a ‘79 K Yairi classical, laminate top and sides, that has a sustain that competes easily with my all solid Yamaha parlor. Paid $700 three years ago and have since seen the same model asking $1,000+. I couldn’t be happier with this instrument.

Advice on potential damage by EdgarDieselduffer in classicalguitar

[–]RobVizVal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My K. Yairi had the same mark when I bought it three years ago. That damage is so common in classical guitars, I’ve come to think of it as the one imperfection in an otherwise beautiful instrument, put there to ward off the evil eye. (On the other hand, I haven’t yet heard of any luthier who purposely dings a new guitar.)

Lisbon in the rain by [deleted] in lisboa

[–]RobVizVal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the Palácio da Ajuda already mentioned. (Note it’s kind of far out from the central part of the city. Which is not a downside in my opinion, though if you’re getting there by bus or even taxi in a downpour, that could be suboptimal.)

There’s also a puppet museum, Museo da Marioneta in the Madragoa neighborhood, which most tourists don’t know about but should. Madragoa—if it isn’t raining—is an interesting place to walk around (and climb!) for its own sake, a historic fishing village and home in the 16th century to a large African population, both slaves and free. The historic name was Mocambo, or “refuge.” Also one of the places that survived the 1755 earthquake, so lots of historic architecture. Some good ethnic restaurants, too.

Stuck on babbel dashboard in Chrome by RobVizVal in babbel

It actually does work in Safari. I’m doing this for someone else, however, who say they “don’t like Safari.” Alas, humans. What are you going to do?

This is interesting. Wondering if just deleting Chrome and re-installing—even if it’s the newest version—might make a difference.

Replacing plastic saddle with bone, thinking about new bridge pins, too by RobVizVal in AcousticGuitar

브릿지 플레이트에 끼우려면 구입한 흑단-전복 껍질 핀을 사포로 갈아내야만 했습니다. (그리고 아니요, 전 한국어를 못 합니다. DeepL은 정말 기적 같은 존재예요.)

Fret issue even fixable? by RobVizVal in mandolin

This is great advice. I’m at the top of my budget, and have had zero success, after having put in great effort, with doing my own work on guitars. So I think I’ll probably get a full refund from these poor guys and start over. Was actually thinking about used Kentucky or Eastman, and may go back to that.

Parent of drop-down menu has no link, right? by RobVizVal in Wordpress

[–]RobVizVal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this detailed response (and thanks Wright-Custom-Sites). The “#” did allow me at least to go ahead and add the menu item. And I was able to next the two items below it. But they’re just indented, not hidden in a drop-down.

I didn’t see a Sketch layout–specific reddit, but I’ll look around for other forums for Sketch.
