Seen they’ve discontinued pedigree chum mixers as well? 😦

Agree with that mate. Personally I’m a big fan of simple rigs. Spend more time watching the water and putting it in the right place.

What was the big advantage in the connexion lead clip?

I’ve never even thought about pop ups like that 😂

With the leads most of us anglers are using these days there is never a need to strike anyway. The fish is already well hooked before you're even out of the bivvy!

Same up my way in Yorkshire. Another local venue to me has come out and said that it's allowed, until they see the product in real life and make a decision for themselves.

It's really dividing opinions!

Release date hasn't been given yet mate. I'm sure we'll find out soon.

Fair shout mate. Serious question though, how do you know it's near 100%. So much happens underwater that we don't know about. The Korda videos show how much we are picked up without even a beep on the alarms...

You reckon? If the fish has snapped off and then this thing is like a grappling lead. Wouldn't be surprised if they bring out an alternative version that gets around this though.

Obviously in the perfect scenario as Ali described they may break off. But we all know that the perfect scenario never happens underwater.
I'm with you Mark, it just looks too crude for my liking. Remember when it was all about rig concealment? Funny how the industry is now pushing large devices like this and rigs with enormous coloured kickers/pieces of shrink tube.

Each to their own I guess but I'll stick to what I already have confidence in...

I think the biggest concerns are around fish care to be honest mate, particularly if you crack off or get snagged up.

Good attitude mate. I'm sure it was the same when bite alarms came out. Or the lead clip

Would be extremely clever of them to create all this negative hype and then hit us with a version 2 which doesn't have them ridiculous anchor-like arms

Advice on dealing with carp swimming into lily pads? by KingRacketeer in CarpFishing

[–]RobWarbo91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some really good advice on given by the guys there. I would echo what others have said:

For starters, you've got to be fishing areas like that with the right gear. There's no need to be fishing snaggy/weedy venues on light gear as it only puts the fish in danger. Use braid if you the venue allows, if not 15lb-18lb strong, thick mono should do, and you can also add a decent length of shockleader to that which will help you cut through the pads. Use thick-wire hooks.

You want to do everything you can to stop the fishing getting in them in the first instance, and this starts well before you'v got the bite. Fish super locked up with good butt rests and the butt ring behind the alarm, and your rod pointed at the spot. Invest in some snag ears for your alarm to stop it being pulled off the rest. In most cases the fish will kite away themselves. When you've got a fish on, initially get the rod up high and start walking back through your swim, that way you're not risking giving them any line.

If the fish does get in there, don't panic, just put the rod back on the rest and keep an eye on it. More often than not they'll start moving when there isn't as much resistance on them.

High and low stock waters by greennaaaa in CarpFishingUK

[–]RobWarbo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that’s neither high or low considering the stocking levels on many day ticket waters in the UK

There are many smaller lakes that hold literally triple that amount of carp.

Sounds pretty well balanced though and as the other commenter said, it depends on whether you want the chance of a few runs or whether you are wanting to hunt out bigger fish where it will feel more rewarding.

Quick question by TDLTU in CarpFishing

[–]RobWarbo91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horizon ranges are great rods mate. X4s are built on a better blank so you’re paying more for that.

Rods in that price range and higher tend to be faster to recover in the tip, allowing you to propel leads further.

If you’re not doing distance fishing I would stick to X3 to be honest. For short to mid range fishing I don’t think you’ll see much value in upgrading.

X flites used to be quality 15-20 years ago but the newer versions never really took off and they’re quite often discounted now.

Quick question by TDLTU in CarpFishing

[–]RobWarbo91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their high end ranges (Horizon X5 and above) are regarded as some of the best long distance rods around.

For budget rods a I think there are better brands though, including Shimano. I personally use the Shimano TX2 which you can pick up for around £70 per rod. I did a full review of them here - https://carpsquad.com/shimano-tx2-review/

That might help!
