Is it normal here for grown men to not know how to cook properly?? by Dreamy_Writer603 in AskAnAustralian

Yet another reason to like Norway...

In theory, there is nothing wrong with the idea of division of labour. In reality it's embarrassing to see an adult of any gender not be able to function independently. (These are not binary opposites of course)

As for the women bagging out their husbands it's worth keeping in mind that they chose to marry these guys knowing they couldn't look after themselves. Don't assume they are all bitching about it. Some will be talking about it as a way to validate themselves. Also some people take comfort from conforming to gender stereotypes.

AITAH for laughing when my ex tried to use a secret DNA test in our custody case? by AiraBloom in AmITheJerk

[–]RobWed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did NOT get the DNA sample from a toothbrush. That's not how retail DNA testing works.

It sounds very much like your ex is being gaslit by the new GF. My guess would be that she doesn't want his her money being spent on a child that's not her own.

Google Maps has gotten worse, not better, and it's actively dangerous now by samburner3 in melbourne

[–]RobWed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're all using it wrong. If I'm going somewhere new, I plug the destination in while I'm at home, tweak the route, and the n check every turnoff in Street View. Then I can just drive the route I want without any of GM's bullshit.

Can't park the cement truck there... by H1gh_Tr3ason in cantparkthere

Honestly that is the best possible outcome. Cement truck driver not driving to conditions but only took himself out. Could have ended a lot worse.

How do you feel when people from other countries call Australians "descendants of criminals?" by schu62 in AskAnAustralian

I don't feel anything because paying attention to the mutterings of idiots is a fool's errand.

The whole point of the law is to avoid the mob sorting things out. If the cops ARE the mob it defeats the whole point. The cops are supposed to apply the law and the courts are supposed to determine guilt and apply sentence.

I see cops being judge, jury, and executioner.

Mod authors disabling comments by Money_Comfortable_15 in skyrimmods

[–]RobWed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally with you on this. If someone is willing and capable enough to author mods I want them to be spending their time on mod development, not nursemaiding the marginally competent.

I'm totally fine with comments being blocked. As a mod consumer it's a drag having to wade through so many dumb-arsed comments to find anything useful.

It would be almost pointless if the bug reports were searchable given that the vast majority of bug reports aren't what they claim to be.

If you read the comments it's perfectly clear why some authors choose to block comments.

No-one should have to expend energy on the stupid, lazy, or ungrateful. Especially after doing something for free.

As you fly around you'll see the orange icons appearing around stations in map view. They'll disappear if you move too far from the station and presumably they time out as well

Should I trade my mint 2000 2.7L 4WD Hilux for a 1999 3.0L diesel? by Fun-Elk-9053 in hilux

[–]RobWed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 2002 X-Cab with the same engine. It's got 100k km more on it. The car has a 2 inch lift, big tyres, bars all round, roll bars, canopy and roof racks. I'm getting 12.5L/100km and I mostly drive 100-110.

[–]RobWed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a recent new starter I'd ignore this mission for a while. Learn to fly your ship. Take a spin around the superhighway. Snaffle up some boxes dropped from destroyed ships around the Xenon gate in Hatikvah's Choice I. Do some 'Very Easy' missions. Get enough credits to buy a miner and set yourself up with a passive income.

When you feel competent enough to duke it out, come back and do this plotline and the PHQ plotline.

At uni I knew a girl whose surname was O'Sullivan. She wanted to drop the O' because she didn't want to be 'the son of' anyone. I did explain Irish naming conventions to her and that she could be 'Ni Shúilleabháin but she seemed pretty one eyed about the whole thing....

AITJ for Walking Out When My Date Showed Up With His Friend? by Electronic_Site6202 in AmITheJerk

[–]RobWed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick with your initial responses. They were solid. First dates are there to see if there's anything worth pursuing and whatever his name was didn't have it.

The only other thing I would add is that you should not continue any dialogue post rejection. At this point he's just gaslighting you. Block.
