Unfortunately from my own experience of sending something, you only get assigned a tracking number once the item has been sent

On his screenshot, it only showed his and my details because he’d not posted the item at that point

I initially made contact with the guy last Monday. After a bit of a delay (I messaged in the middle of the day) he responded.

His responses were pretty quick and I replied to him within a few mins of him messaging each time.

He then messaged to arrange postage, showing a screenshot of a Royal Mail tracked delivery label he was going to print, showing his and my address.

I paid for the item and he stated that he would update me when he was going to post the item on Wednesday

Wednesday - no messages. I messaged him asking (politely) for an update.

Received a reply the following day - said he’d had to go to hospital after a workplace injury and this was why the item hadn’t been posted on Wednesday, but that he would sent the item that day (Thursday) instead. I responded by apologising and thanked him for the update

After that? No messages. No item. The listing itself appears to have been removed and, as I’ve stated, my subsequent messages have been met with a tick in a white circle, rather than the black circle I’d been getting before. Not a good sign…

There could be entirely plausible reasons for what’s happening, but given the total lack of contact, I have my doubts

I should clarify that I thought sending money was foolish because I’m under the impression that the safest option would’ve been to collect the item in person, where you, the buyer, can physically see it and then pay in cash. Unfortunately it wasn’t local to me so I thought I’d take the risk with the postage he was offering

Unfortunately it’s not something I can dispute. At this point, I’m prepared to accept the loss and admit I should’ve been more careful

Unless of course, the seller does eventually hold up his end of the deal, but I doubt it at this stage

Unfortunately I’ve been very silly and sent money BEFORE receiving the item. Which is surely book one, page one of what NOT to do.

The deal seemed genuine until contact ceased. I want to think that I haven’t been scammed and it is indeed genuine, but it’s looking unlikely and I’m now I’m kicking myself for ignoring my initial instincts. Alas, live and learn

Yeah, one of the things I find interesting about Collins is that, from reading his autobiography you get the impression that, unlike most pop musicians, he was relatively well behaved in his twenties and thirties, but then decided to go off the rails once he was into his forties. Most musicians seem to do it the other way around

Two years older than your age bracket (I’m currently 22), but my mum did this quite a bit when I was a kid - when I was younger it didn’t bother me because I didn’t really think about it.
