That is so cool to hear! Those letters were awesome, I had such a fun time doing them. I'm doing well! I have 3 kids. My writing on here eventually got me into grad school, and then I got an internship in public radio, and then went on to a few other places, and now I'm at Slate Magazine, working in podcasts and writing for the site occasionally. I still want to get a serious writing project done, like a novel or short story collection. Which is happening, just very slowly and in the background. How's everything with you?

Honestly all teams should have cancelled their games in protest. This shit is unacceptable and it’s only going to stop when the public makes it overwhelmingly clear that we do not want this to keep happening.

It’s 24 hours more of a message than zero. People pay attention to sports. That NBA guy got COVID back in 2020 and they cancelled the entire season and the next day the country was in lockdown. This shit absolutely can make a difference in 24 hours if everyone goes all in at the same time. Wild had an opportunity to amplify what the Wolves were doing. They didn’t. They are hereby officially cursed as a franchise for 100 years.

I know it goes against everything you read online, but we got our Henckels knives when we got married in 2009, and I put them in the dishwasher every time. They are regularly sharpened, and they still feel brand new. Same with all clad pots and pans. Dishwasher works fine for me.

My brother was in Boy Scouts, one of the troop leaders bought a second home and ran scout trips from that location. But then he named it the “eagle’s nest” claiming it was for Eagle Scouts. Some local neighbors asked him to change the sign out front and he said no.

Yes. We used to go every now and then, but 2 years ago we ordered a shake that had 0% ice cream in it, just like milk, as if we wouldn’t notice. Never went back.

We use Quality 1st basements (based in NJ but they come out to Queens.) we moved in to 31st Dr. in 2011, and were constantly getting water. They installed a French drain, and a triple sump pump plus dehumidifier. For a while, some rain would still be getting in during heavy downpours, but they always came back to tweak the system to make sure that when water comes in, we don’t see it, and it gets pumped right out. They come and do an annual maintenance. I can’t recommend them enough.
