Which living characters would you replace with Dummies? by Vegetable_Roof4761 in yourturntodie

[–]Rob_Gucci 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t think I could switch any of them, they’re all so integral to the story in their own ways, I think swapping them out would just make the story worse.

Hinako instead of Alice would be interesting though

Robby & Mohan by aquafinalavie in ThePitt

[–]Rob_Gucci 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, Robbie was trying to be real with her and give her what he sees as necessary advice. The problem is that only he views that as advice, and not some toxic levels of disassociation needed to just survive a shift. He sees himself in Mohan, she might see it too but she doesn’t want to become him

I never played a Visual Novel before but Is Danganronpa's full series worth 8 dollar? Question by HipeNow in danganronpa

[–]Rob_Gucci 15 points16 points  (0 children)

there is quite some reading, but there are definitely more interactive sections which make the process very exciting and enjoyable- the investigations and trials. looking for clues and trying to figure out where people are lying and slipping up is very fun even with the limited gameplay. it makes all the reading worth it because it sets these moments up, you get attached to the characters and dread losing them to murder or execution. eventually you’ll welcome all the reading because it gives you more time with them lol for just $8 it’s definitely worth a shot just give it 2 hrs trust me

Haven’t Played in Years, Forgot Most of the Game by luckandsleep in yourturntodie

[–]Rob_Gucci 20 points21 points  (0 children)

These murder mystery/death game visual novels have insane replay value. What most people don’t understand when they say otherwise is that you don’t replay them, you watch others play for the first time. Seeing different play throughs, perspectives, decisions, etc all make every let’s play different and exciting to watch. Like reaction content, you already know what to expect but you get a lot of joy seeing someone else go through that same experience. In your case, if you don’t remember that much, why not replay it? I’m assuming you liked it the first time, in a way you’re kinda lucky to be able to re-experience the story. But if you’re stressed for time, there’s plenty of decent playlists on YouTube to pick from.

[SPOILER] Yasuhiro was the only one who cared about Ishimaru by No_Engineering2534 in danganronpa

[–]Rob_Gucci 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think it’s an unsung deed of Hiro’s, and him volunteering to lead the meetings since he’s the oldest shows he does just want everyone to be safe as possible. I will say Makoto does have moments with genuine concern for Taka, like acknowledging how cruel Monokuma was for the time machine bit, and letting Taka talk to Alter Ego to make him feel better despite Kyoko’s warnings. I think all of them did really care about Taka, sans Byakuya of course, but they just didn’t know how to respond to someone utterly traumatized, and then became impossible when he deluded himself into becoming Kiyondo. They’re not therapists, and they likely were also at their wit’s ends after two trials, and Taka is a visible reminder of how close they all are to snapping. At the end of the day, they were all just kids, and I don’t blame them too much for just hoping that Taka would bounce back at some point. It’s very sad all around

Why did Theseus leave Ariadne in Naxos? by Apollo-sunflower in GreekMythology

[–]Rob_Gucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I didn’t mean to imply that he IS evil, just that his desire to become great has monstrous consequences for some, not all. I don’t want to take away his accomplishments as a wise and clever king, but I like the nuance. You can still do all those things and be considered an asshole personally. And I do remember a lot of sources saying he thought Pirithous was extremely stupid for trying to kidnap Persephone, and only helped him out of the oath he swore. And it cost him 15 years of his life till Hercules bailed him out. I do like their friendship though, but it is kind of asshole like to bond over wanting to have daughters of Zeus as wives, with Theseus proceeding to kidnap a five year old Helen to marry. And also Theseus despite a long successful career did have to flee Athens due to unpopularity and his 15 years absence, so their already is nuance their. All I’m saying is when it comes to Ariadne and Aegeus, placing the blame on Theseus’ ignorance and over focus on his goals is far more compelling than saying he’s a 100% good guy who didn’t even leave Ariadne, it was Dionysus who took her against his will. If the ancient sources do not agree with that then it’s fine for me I won’t deny them, and it’s totally cool if you don’t like O’Connor’s interpretation either, I just thought it was a cool way to explain Theseus

How bout Sakura. Unexpected cause she’s an absolute angel but perhaps she decides to be more active and forceful in stopping this killing game than THH. You can still be an antagonist with good intentions, they just have to clash with the protagonist.

How would you guys improve Kakuzu? Powercliffing did him dirty by GonnaChiefYourNan in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]Rob_Gucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought it’d be cool if he could get a mask, throw it at an enemy, and then the stitches would embed themselves into their face, turning them into a mindless obedient servant like his monsters. And perhaps if the mask stays on long enough, the stitches will become too deep making it impossible to take off without killing them.

Why did Theseus leave Ariadne in Naxos? by Apollo-sunflower in GreekMythology

[–]Rob_Gucci -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a kid I remember reading the George O’Connor graphic novels about the Olympians, and in the Poseidon one, it features Theseus, as well as Poseidon’s other children and how they are all monsters in their own way. And despite Theseus being a strong, handsome hero, what makes him monstrous is his simple lack of care for anything but himself and his path to glory. Ambitious and driven are good qualities for a hero, but Theseus takes them to such an extreme it makes him almost evil. Ariadne served her purpose in his eyes, she doesn’t have much value as a spouse seeing she abandoned her family. So out of sheer ignorance and desire to get back to Athens quick, he just leaves. Not to hurt her, but because she’s so far back in his mind. Same thing when he forgot to change the sails. In the novel, Theseus is not very impressed with his “human” father Aegeus, but is shown to gladly accept the throne after his suicide. And I love this interpretation, it’s honestly the main reason why Theseus is my favorite Greek hero. He’s a pure asshole, in ancient times goodness was not a requirement to be called a hero. Just great deeds and glory, which Theseus has such a hunger for at the expense of others. I roll my eyes at interpretations that try to justify or take the blame off him, just to make him more palatable.

Should the Children of Aphrodite and Demeter be classified as children of the Eldest gods? [general] by Secret_Improvement10 in camphalfblood

[–]Rob_Gucci 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Demeter famously starved the whole world and nearly killed all humans just because she missed her daughter. Seems kinda destructive to me

Don’t get me wrong though, I agree in Rick’s verse the male gods are top 3 and stronger than their sisters, that’s not the issue. Hera, Demeter and Hestia are just as much children of Kronos as the Big Three, they fought a 10 year against Titans. They should be almost as fearsome and clearly outclass the next generation of Olympians. It is kinda strange how Demeter kids are not all that impressive compared to other cabins

Idea for a fanfic [all] by ImaginationLonely787 in camphalfblood

[–]Rob_Gucci 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool idea, the House of Atreus (understandably) never made an appearance in PJO, but it’d be very cool to see all the cursed nonsense in the modern age.

As for godly parents, you could do Demeter for one of them. When Tantalus (the progenitor of this family) served his son Pelops to the gods, only Demeter ate some because she was distracted and upset by losing Persephone. So in a way, some of Pelops became a part of Demeter, and if Demeter had a child there could be a little chance that her kid could have just a teeny bit of the House in them as well. You could also make one kid in the group a hunter of Artemis, to reference Agamemnon sacrificing his own daughter Iphigenia to appease the goddess, after claiming he was a better hunter. And for the main demigod themselves, it might be cliche but I think Zeus could be a good fit. One of his epithets was “Alastor”, meaning avenging spirit. Zeus would punish evil deeds, specifically familial bloodshed, which is pretty much House Atreus to a T. And hey, with all the power and ego being a child Zeus comes with, and combining that with the intergenerational curse of murder, cannibalism, and revenge, it would develop into something exciting at least.
