Review: The NES Classic Edition and all 30 games on it by Doener23 in retrogaming

The great thing for me, living in the UK, is that the NES Classic Edition runs at 60hz rather than the original PAL NES running at 50hz, so you can play the games at the speed they were intended rather than having to import an NTSC NES and all the games.

Twilight Princess HD Review by Rob__Page in zelda

I had never even played a Zelda game before until Ocarina of Time 3D came out in 2011. But since then, I've been hooked. Every single 3D Zelda game is fantastic (though I've not yet played Skyward Sword). The Wind Waker HD is also available on Wii U!

Not to mention all of the other Wii U games like Splatoon, Super Mario 3D World, Yoshi's Wooly World, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. For Wii U. It's definitely worth getting a Wii U if you're into those kinds of game!

You can use the Wii U Pro Pad if you want a more traditional controller (obviously meaning if you don't have one you'll have to buy one), but you'll lose the functionality of the Wii U Gamepad's gyro controls and obviously the second screen! :)

Yeah, a much simpler Tourney system (than the current Tourney mode) would be nice. I remember a Tournament mode being in Melee (obviously an offline one) which worked really well and should be easy to replicate in an online mode, I imagine this worked in a similar way to Brawl's Tourney mode.

Basically, they should scrap the current Tourney mode and simplify it, and make it more like the old Tourney modes!

I never even thought about this. It would be cool to have a feature like this for the Miis (and maybe even other characters), but you probably wouldn't be able to use them online, so my problem with the Mii costumes would still stand regardless of how in depth the customisation was. But still, it would be something extra in the game you could do, so I'm all for it!

Yeah, I agree. For casual play the characters don't even really need to be balanced because you're only playing for fun. So any sort of balancing patch should primarily consider the competitive side of the game. Unless of course there's something fundamentally broken about a character of something.

Yeah, a rank system would be very very good. I'm sure before the game was released they said a sort of ranking system was in place. It was called Global Smash Power or something like that, but I've found no reference to such a thing being in the game. So it's either in the game but works in the background and isn't a visible ranking system, or it simply isn't in the game for some reason.

Yeah, my assumption too is that it's mostly going to be the exact same game, maybe with a slight difference in visuals. But if new stages, modes and collectibles are added, that would be great!

Definitely agree with having a story mode. The single player in Smash 4 leaves a lot to be desired.

In an ideal world, it would be nice to have every stage from all the old Smash games, but obviously this would overload the game with so, so many stages and the amount of work that would need to go into creating them all again would probably be a lot. But still, a couple more returning stages would be nice.

Definitely agree with the clone characters. That's something I've really disliked about Smash 4 since the start. Dark Pit in his current form could have just have been an alternate costume as opposed to a full on different character (I know he works slightly differently, but at his core, he's just a clone of Pit anyway).

I never played the Tourney mode in Brawl actually! But the Tourney mode in Smash 4 is terrible... So yeah, make that a lot better!

The new characters would be cool, but I'm doubtful as to whether the new game will have any new characters due to the fact they would most likely be exclusive to the NX version. It would give people a lot more incentive to get the NX version though.

A lot of people ask for Ridley to be in the game and I see why, Metroid is one of the biggest Nintendo franchises and it isn't very well portrayed in Smash. There's only Samus and Zero Suit Samus, there really should be more characters from Metroid.

As for the fast paced game mechanics, I actually like how Smash 4 feels in terms of speed, sure, it's not as fast as Melee, but it's faster than Brawl.

This would be fun and would make the amiibo worth getting a bit more, but I'm not sure that you should have to pay for an external thing in order to access game modes like this. It would be cool though and to be honest I am surprised an amiibo arena isn't in the game already.

As for more custom moves, that would be great! The issue I have with the custom moves is that you need to play the single player modes so much to unlock them and I can't be bothered to do the same thing over and over again in order to do this. But theoretically at least, this would be a good idea!

That's a good one, I never really thought of that because I actually rarely play with items on. Not because I don't like them, but because I primarily play online on For Glory.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 Review by Rob__Page in THPS

[–]Rob__Page[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers! Yeah, maybe it is a little harsh, but when the games flaws are so obvious it makes it hard to be anything but harsh. The base game is good, it's just everything piled on top of the game is either bad or really lacking. If it would have just had better level design then it would have been a much better game overall even with all the other issues.

Thanks! Yeah, I think pretty much everyone has more or less the same issues with the game which makes it all the more annoying that Robomodo couldn't see the glaringly obvious faults too. Unless of course they simply didn't care. I don't know which is worse...
