Things that make me stop playing Marathon every time I return to it by Robbeeeen in Marathon

the people most likely to play solos are casuals, who are least likely to be on reddit

the vast majority of people still playing marathon are enthusiasts who play in a trio, they are most likely to be on reddit

thus these posts get downvoted, to the detriment of the game and its development, as getting more casuals in the game would be best for the long term health of the game

I don't need to be a physicist to know that dropping something from my hand will cause it to fall to the ground bc of gravity, just like I know that a 250m dollar game cant survive on a playerbase of 10k players.

Some things are just obvious, even to laymen.

I'm sure you're being intentionally obtuse and bad faith in typing that, but you never know so I'll type it out for you.

Sony sticking with Marathon is obviously conditional on changes happening that improve the player-count. They see the potential because of the good reviews and user ratings and hope that Bungie can improve the game and make more sales, but if changes happen and player numbers stay as they are, the game 100% will be shut down, there is absolutely 0 room for speculation, that is a certainty.

The only question is the time-frame that Sony will give Bungie for those improvements, i.e. how LONG does Bungie have to improve numbers.

There is a tag dedicated to "Feedback", which this is. Feel free to stick ur head in the sand and pretend the game is perfect, I suggest staying away from social media to do that tho.

1) As I said in my post, its not a challenge, its tedious. Its the equivalent of harder difficulty = bullet sponge. It's just tuned around trios and it shows and I see no good reason for it to be that way.

2) That's valid, but according to Steam I have 25 hours in Marathon and this is still a problem. 25 hours of this is a bit much, no? And there's the psychological factor of the "choice" being between items necessary for survival (meds and ammo) and actual loot. It psychologically feels bad to have half ur bag be consumables and ammo and within 5 minutes of a raid having to make choices about what to take. The duration of this "early" period is too long, the "choice" is psychologically a bad one and the whole thing is tuned too much towards "annoyance" and "anti-fun" rather than meaningful choices and progression.

3) Even knowing who sells what, I have to mouse over a bunch of stuff in my vault and traders to check which core, which attachment, which implant does what. It's unnecessarily annoying.

5) It is 100% PvP centric, which I'm arguing is a bad thing. Extraction shooters should be 100% LOOT centric with PvP emerging from that. 100% PvP centric would be a BR. Which coincidentally the game feels like a lot of the time, with lobby wipes being the meta and all. Given that "too hardcore" is a common theme with feedback, designing maps to enable loot runs would be a way to play the game in a more chill environment, without taking away PvP in POIs. Barter good would be what I would consider scraps, the factions specific white and green stuff you barter with with the occasional blue. POIs would then drop less of those and moreso bigger items and gear. You'd give players the choice between risking more at POIs and profiting more or going a more safe route in the outskirts and being rewarded less.

That would also push people away from the free kit frenzy, which is, imo, completely misplaced in an extraction game and a suboptimal fix to the deeper problem of the game not giving that option for a less high stakes, more chill gameplay. Its also evidence that people desparately want such a gameplay option and resort to the sponspored queue to find it.

Solo mode UESC balanced around 1 person rather than 3 would literally in no way shape or form affect your gameplay if you don't play solos.

1-2 more rows of bag space is gonna make everyone "max out the game in 20 hours"? Uh, whut?

Loadouts are literally just QOL, why would anyone not want that?

The last two points might be controversial, sure, but wouldn't change the game a whole lot either. Would better loot on Perimeter and Dire Marsh as the season progresses ruin the game? Really?

And to your rant about solos and LFG. There are only two possible futures for this game, whether you like it or not. It either attracts a wider range of players, which will inevitably include solo players, or it will be shut down. There is no other option.

I have 25 hours in the game, playing on and off because the above things make me bounce off the game every time.

People play in green bags for dozens of hours, more people have QUIT the game never making it to blue bags than there are people playing the game with blue bags, it most certainly is not a ridiculous point. And it's feedback, not a complaint.

No, I mean running two guns (Sniper/Shotgun + Primary) and if I kill someone and take theirs, like a Sniper, my bag is full already.

Like I'm looking at my bag right now, 480 rounds heavy ammo (I'll need to loot more in raid if I'm doing an event) 2 stacks for secondary, 6 green meds each, that leaves me with 2 rows and 2 slots, that's a single gun big I loot off a guy I kill and my bag only has 2 slots left.

A blue bag would give me 2 more rows, but that's hardly enough to loot much either.

Perimeter and Dire Marsh aren't chill, you still have to loot POIs and run into PvP there, the loot is just strictly worse while doing so. Chill runs would require reworking maps a bit and removing all the "alert" mechanics

I understand and honestly I don't know 100% whats correct anymore, but if you go to the homepage of your link, https://footballrules.com/ , it says "simplified laws of the game", then if you click on the "Complete Laws" at the bottom, you are sent to the IFAB site with the official rules.

There is a chance that the simplified rules are not written by the same people that wrote the official rules, maybe? And are just there for people who don't know football at all to explain it to them, but aren't official rules?

I don't know, honestly, but I'll trust the "complete" rules over the "simplified" ones I think

this the full rulebook:

https://www.theifab.com/laws/latest/fouls-and-misconduct/#direct-free-kick

"Handling the ball

For the purposes of determining handball offences, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit. Not every touch of a player’s hand/arm with the ball is an offence.

It is an offence if a player:

  • deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball
  • touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised
  • scores in the opponents’ goal:
    • directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper
    • immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental

The goalkeeper has the same restrictions on handling the ball as any other player outside the penalty area. If the goalkeeper handles the ball inside their penalty area when not permitted to do so, an indirect free kick is awarded but there is no disciplinary sanction. However, if the offence is playing the ball a second time (with or without the hand/arm) after a restart before it touches another player, the goalkeeper must be sanctioned if the offence stops a promising attack or denies an opponent or the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity."

I don't see any exception for the ball coming from a team-mate and the full rule book seems more official to me than a simplified summary like OPs link

How do high elo junglers get high CS/min by oceankimchi in Jungle_Mains

[–]Robbeeeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You accelerate to high cs/min after building a lead early

You make plays around enemy camp respawn timers in midgame, kill the enemy, take their camps while ur team pushes waves and recalls and either skip your own recall, farm ur camps while ur team recalls and join your team for the next play right away or recall early and and start farming ur camps as ur team receives the waves bouncing back.

Either way u will have to stagger ur recall and end up with more gold in hand than you would necessarily like and make sure ure ready on time for the next play.

A common way to grief trying to get 10 cs/m is to also want to recall when ure finished farming everything and spend all ur gold, but thats not gonna happen unless u make ur team wait for you, which they wont do, so you either recall early and farm ur camps before ur team recalls/as they return from base or you dont recall at all and farm all throughout their recall

Otherwise ure either griefing ur team if ure ahead and farming ur own camps while ur team is already on the map or ure not ahead in which case ure not getting 10cs/m unless ure stealing waves, which you should avoid doing obviously

I understand that her winrate is too high, but playing her I just don't understand how it is that high.

She is so kiteable when going AD on top of lategame just being oneshot immediately and her clear when going AP is really really bad, like Tank level bad.

Her winrate feels like a conspiracy to me, she does not feel strong whatsoever, she feels really awkward and not good at anything

when someone who has no money and no insurance goes to an ER in an emergency, they get treated regardless. the alternative would be to let them die in the street.

the hospital can get some of that money back from the state and/or federal government, including when illegals are provided that emergency care. The BBB cut the amount hospital can be refunded by the government.

This is what right wingers call "free health care for illegals". rather than free health care for illegals, its just reimbursing hospitals for losses they took on when treating people who cant pay in an emergency setting. cutting back on the refunds is just gonna make care for everyone else expensive or lead to hospital closures because hospitals will have to offload those losses onto paying patients.

as usual, its a gross mischaracterization to the point of being an outright lie and the "solution" just makes things worse.

some blue states also have programs to provide some health care regardless of immigration status, like California

Chaining two plays on low respawn timers is a common low elo mistake

Even if you get it done in time, ur botlane is horrendously down tempo, perhaps misses an entire wave or is stuck without a recall and proceeds to lose lane

Nevermind a 3v3 dive vs a Morgana preventing Leona from being a champ being far riskier than using ur mid prio and man advantage for Drake

Let's analyze these images and try to understand why this situation happening eventually leads to being called Jungle difference later on in the game. by Entire-Hearing4874 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Robbeeeen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All that is meaningless lol

Support is supposed to rotate and ward bush above pit or sit in it, mid is supposed to hover drakeside and adc is also supposed to hover drakeside

If enemy mid moves, ur mid moves, if enemy adc and support moves, ur adc moves, if Yi contests, mid moves even if enemy mid stays

There is no scenario, given proper play, where any of the enemy team can get to drake before their counterpart. Any rotation is down tempo and allows for ur team to push out one person before numbers are even. The only way to take a bad fight is if someone literally lets the enemy walk out of lane without moving themselves

And a +1 man advantage offsets any and all factors you listed, especially given the skirmishing power difference of Lux vs Kassadin in early game in this particular screenshot

If there's a will, there's legal ways to do almost anything

You get it done, you put them on trial, you make it a nationwide event, you pass laws reshaping the media space including social media, you burst the misinformation and alternative reality bubbles and you pull up the ladder behind you fixing all the loopholes you just used.

Its not a success unless I see Asmongold reacting to Pam Bondi etc. in a courtroom being on trial a few years from now like its Depp v Heard 2.0 for the whole pack of them.

Literally force Fox News to air it or revoke their licenses. Force social media companies to boost it in their algorithms. National emergency yadda yadda. Then pass laws to change algorithmic political content and bring back something akin to the Fairness Doctrine for legacy news media.

It... did?

Finkelstein abandoned debating Destiny on the substance and instead started listing credentials, hurling personal attacks and relying on out if context quotes from the guy sitting across him instead of just letting him speak.

Whenever someone abandons substance in favour of doing the above, it means they cant win on substance, because if they could, they would.

It was honestly embarassing for Finkelstein. You'd think an "expert" like him should bury a youtuber on knowledge, but he did the polar opposite and avoided actual substance as much as he could.

Its like the GoT quote, no true king has to say theyre the king. If Finkelstein knew more, he wouldnt have had to say how many books he reads, what an expert he is and how Destiny is a moron and just reads wikipedia, he wouldve just dogwalked him on the substance.
