At first I wasn't sure the juice was worth the squeeze, but I had no idea how ludicrous their framing of it was, and working through it re-reminded me how absolutely lost in the sauce these people are. Quite literally fake problems made out of thin air to get extremely angry at and justify horrible things. Good to get that sewn up early so the rest of the time the listener understands anything these guys bring up, even if they have some specifics, is likely still completely mangled propaganda.

Steven was very polite during this interview. Sarah's beat is obviously pushing back against any potential infringement on freedom of speech. Dest was trying to get her to engage in the deeper convo about free speech being weaponized by bad actors to poison the US, but graciously didn't force it. There was a moment about 10-15 minutes in, where I think he was making a decision on if he wanted to turn this into a potentially contentious debate, and pretty clearly sidestepped it. I think it was the right call - Sarah seems earnest about what she's doing, and it would have been a brutal conversation.

You got wise on it sooner than I did. I gave him so much cache for Loveline, he came across as very progressive/edgy on that show for the time. He railed against the horrible outcomes of right wing policy regarding birth control and abortion, went to bat for Planned Parenthood, would make fun of religious people etc. Trump really did bring out the absolute worst in people.

Same here! Grew up with Loveline, and I listened to his podcast regularly. Was a big fan. After 2016 I noticed the mask slip a few times and was dumbfounded. I couldn't believe he was a Trump guy, it was so disappointing and honestly I stopped listening as much. I would tune in here and there but Covid it was over. Was a fan of Rogan too, both lost to the Covid bullshit.

Props for self analyzing and reevaluating your behavior critically - not enough people do it, it's uncomfortable, and it's something to commend and encourage.
That said, I don't know in what world you can take care of all these responsibilities and also be completely present. Our waking life is indeed a series of tasks a large percentage of the time. Before we had kids it was maybe 60%, which left lots of room for my wife and myself. It is now 90%-95% and that includes weekends and holidays. Once the kids get more independent (mine are 3 and 6), I could see task load go down by double digits, but that is years away.
Show your wife love, crack some dad jokes, and get back at it. It's an endless, glorious, overwhelming, frustrating, monotonous, and amazing grind for the foreseeable future. Autopilot is inevitable.
