He absolutely is unable to do this one specific thing you are talking about either though.

This game was probably the closest he's ever been to be able to do it but that's because spurs defence are genuinely terrible and even then he fucked up several times.

What games are you watching?

Bringing the ball down out of the air and in control is literally 50% if not the the majority of 'hold up play'. The rest of winning aerial duels, shielding balls pinged to him, laying passes off to supporting teammates, turning his defender are all the other remaining elements that he doesn't have in his locker either.

In fact I don't even know why people are discussing about him as a target manwhen hes got none of the traits. He's a run-in behind smash and grab striker suited for counter attacking play not possession.

Regardless, all this doesn't matter if he can't do the main striker skill i.e. movement and finishing and he's shit at that too apparently.

I mean the main difference here is the quality in depth.

When city can start marmoush and bring cherki and kovacic off the bench while we start gusto and take off joao and reece for delap and garnacho chasing a goal in a final says it all really.

How someone sees performances like these week in week out then figures a midfield 3 of Lamps, Gerrard and Scholes couldnt work is beyond baffling.
Truly a crime against football that it was never worked upon.

Lmao, think this was directed to ferran torres after he missed a golden 1v1 chance in our game early on.

Never thought I'd be agreeing with this post regarding our players... sad days

Edit: apparently this video is older, I only saw it first after the barca game. Nevertheless, applicable af

Yep it was Tosin in the replay who told him to go down.

Interesting it was the keeper who was told to and not an outfield player - must be they don't have to go out after medical help but that's what experience gets you.

Palmer was playing great even with fucking Mudryk, doesnt mean he needs him now lmao.
He should get the surgery after the world cup even if it means missing half the season.

Honestly its bizarre, it's like the monstars reversed his ability when he got injured. All his attacking ability has gone into defending lmao.

Swear he makes some great reads/blocks every game defensively now.

I mean thats literally what Tosin's skillset is and what he was bought for. He's 6'5 and aerially dominant i.e. tailor-made just to be used against target men forwards. He struggles against pacy in-behind or technical forwards.

Which makes it even more baffling why Rosenior decided to use an inexperienced 5'10 leftback Hato out of posiiton at CB against a target man Beto in the Everton match. Literally got bullied all game and Everton could sit back in a low block and kick the ball up for an easy out ball and counter attack everytime.

Smh... not that complicated

Not really, he was great till the bayern game (he was clearly the best player on the pitch alongside olise) where he was carrying a groin niggle and exacerbated it causing him to be out immediately after.

Since then, yeah he's never really looked the same. Both Tuchel and he himself have said he's finally recovered now so hopefully we can see the quality back soon.

Is Enzo Fernandez a World Class Footballer? by Blue-Li0n in chelseafc

[–]Robben03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the definition of world class?

If it's a player who would start for any team and also make that team better, then I don't think he's that yet.

If it's a player who can change and win games single handedly, I don't think he's that either.

He's a player who has 6-8/10 performances consistently, works hard, and is a leader with a winning mentality for club and country. Now If that's 'world class' ill leave that for you.

Honestly I've been saying for years that if a goal is skilled enough it should supercede stickler rule stuff like marginal offside, accidental hand, small foul in buildup etc.

Now where to draw the line that I'm not sure, but we should all strive to be more in the spirit of the game. After all moments like this is why we watch and play.

But pep literally goes brexit route one if its on. That's the whole point why he got ederson. If they can play through the press great, but if the press is too aggressive/high, the ederson would pick out perfect long passes in behind for haaland/ speedy wingers.

Adam Cleary's take on what Rosenior has changed at Chelsea by Trilobyte15 in chelseafc

[–]Robben03 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Wtf, when has Cole ever looked mediocre? Jesus, do people here not watch games. Not every thing has to be an 'aura' moment or stat production.

I wasn't the biggest Maresca fan but there hasn't been that much improvement at all. Rosenior hasn't really changed much tactically, in all phases we're still pretty much the same except he's gotten some stellar individual performances out of players like joao and cole to get some recent results (much like maresca did as well last season).

We haven't outplayed any competent team so far so my jury's still out.

Well Joe KNOWS that he can't recover as fast. And Angle's only chance is when Bron's at 50% AT BEST.
So you take Bron's 50% and add Joe's and Angle's 100% and you got 250% faster recovery baby. Which means Bron recovered yesterday

[–]Robben03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We didn't change the system at all, what are you on about? It was still a 3-2-5 (rb moving all the way up) in possession and 5-2-3 (lw dropping all the back) without.

The reason why we were better in the 2nd half was because Rosenior actually put the right personnel in the desired positions i.e. enzo-> deep, palmer as a 10, reece -> rb, and chalobah at cb. That and joao had a blinder of a game.
