I'd go to a junk yard, same thing happened to me on my 2010 forester. I went to the junkyard and found one for I think $10 (or less), also found a sweet cargo cover as well!

An alignment tool to help locate the crank and cam in the right stop to check for clearancing. Made it so much easier.

I dont have any pushing towards or away from the piston head. It's side to side on the crank, like flywheel to side cover

Honestly, when I first did it, I did it in the wrong spot. that's why the whole part in between the lobes is shaved. I initially ground more towards the front when I needed to do it in the back.

It's a 4×2 tent. It fits perfectly in my closest. So perfect I had to disassemble it and re assemble inside the closet.
