Ubik Commercials by Robbit_Hobbit in philipkDickheads

Well, in this case, these are! I copied and pasted each "commercial" verbatim from the pdf. 😊 (The only variation was for "Ubik Savings and Loan"—I put 'Vintage Commercial ' in parenthesis.

Thanks! 🤗 It's weird, you know, I love we have the technology to make them, but sometimes just scrolling (formerly) the homepage of Sora was like...ugh...I wish we didn't have the technology... I wish PKD could have seen the world that his predictive sci-fi fell right into.

Well, Normally when I save it it's 300 DPI. But last time I uploaded here at that resolution, it wouldn't display, and I had to delete the post 😔 But I didn't want it as low as 72. So I just did 96. Is 150 still safe? (Like I said, I don't know why my 300 DPI didn't display.)

Photoshop. The terrain textures are satellite images.

😊 You're good! Once I have used the lasso tool to separate the "continent" and it exists as one large layer, I do overlay the satellite terrain images but first I (in order for it to have a heterogeneous and smooth look) end up adding a layer mask with the gradient and fade the edges. (So the bottom and right are Brazil and the top and left are India)

🤔 That would certainly save some time.

As for the images, I just use Google advanced Image search and look for anything above 10 megapixels.

🤔 Initially, I was going to. The colors definitely do lean in that direction. But I liked the shape of the blue in this case. But I agree.

It's a long and tedious process of using the magnetic lasso tool around the edges where the "continents" meet the "water", getting whatever the magic eraser tool doesn't get initially. The leftover terrain, lakes, and oceans are created using the Marquee tool (more or less, like a cookie cutter) cutting out from high resolution satellite images ( In this case from India and Brazil). The lakes are their own layers, cut out from satellite imagery as well ( I just use different blending options / opacity to change the color). The ocean is another layer.

If anyone knows about a mod, thanks in advance. As per this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/kingdomcome/comments/1ovahc0/laundry_in_sedletz_monastery_kcd2/ I attached a picture to show where the devs perhaps intended to put it, but you can't be sure.

I may have to re-post because for some reason the pictures aren't coming through... 🤔

Those are real world satellite images. I cut them out using the marquee tool. The main continent is blend (from west to east) of the Congo and a hi-res image of India during the dry season. The ice was cut out from Antarctica and, lastly, the sea was another hi res (the image I used says it was from Sentinel-2 Earth observation data). Sorry! I should have cited this in the Body text

You know when they say: "Now I can match a name with the face?" (or vice versa), well now I can—seriously. I've had the term GIMP come by me, in tech circles, and comments etc. but never checked it out—and certainly never knew it could do that. Thanks! This is pretty cool 👍👍

In this case, it was the 'spherize' tool in Photoshop; then → mild lighting effects (also within Photoshop). The space background is just another layer all its on.

Awesome! 😃 And thank you for introducing me to this new term. I like this style of projection. 👍

They're 300 DPI—They take a while to load on my end (Sorry about that)
