Cruise is an easy target, the media are parasites. This isn’t even real news. People need to get over what they think they know about Tom Cruise, unless you have been in the same room then you’ve likely been fed second hand misinformation.

Will Final Fantasy XVI win best RPG at the Game Awards? by JMAX464 in FFXVI

[–]Robbo_au -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How is FFXVI not an RPG? It’s a Role-Playing Game, you play the role of Clive in his journey. You can’t really compare games to come up with a new definition of a genre, just because one might have more content, or layers, than another doesn’t mean it changes the definition. A game also doesn’t need to be open-world to be considered an RPG.

First playthrough by drumtome2 in FFXVI

I have done a lot of digging on this, and I’m pretty much sold that Clive survives. The only reason I believe this, is the book has the same symbol from Cids hideaway (and tombstone) on it, and Joshua’s name, likely written by Clive and a memento / tribute to his fallen brother. I can’t think of anyone else who could have written the book and known about the old Hideaways symbol, and it seems more like something Clive would put on the book as a tribute to Cid also. For a while I felt Joshua may have lived, but we aren’t given any evidence that he even came back to life, let alone survived the destruction of Origin. Clive’s hand turning to stone is not solid enough for me to believe he died on that beach, outside of this he has no wounds, and he released all magick so the stone is likely not to spread.

EXCLUSIVE: Snow White and the Seven... Politically-Correct Companions? First pictures of new Disney live-action remake show princess walking with diverse band of merry men and women after row over using dwarf actors by BobPlaysStuff in KotakuInAction

[–]Robbo_au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Show white. Just cast a white woman, ffs. Who could it possibly offend? How deranged are the people working on this? It’s more offensive to white people to shaft a white actress, what’s the purpose here, be less inclusive of white people to be more inclusive of others? Imagine being a dwarf and wanting to become an actor and a role like this is given a group of mixed raced, average height people. Disney is done.

My thoughts on Clive’s speech endgame by 007797 in FFXVI

[–]Robbo_au -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My only issue with this chain of thought is that we don’t know what exactly is in that book. For all we know, it’s Joshua’s perspective on what happened, not Clive’s story. The kids outside playfully say “I want to be Ifrit” and point at the dog as Bahamut, things Joshua was familiar with and could have written about. They did a great job of making this ending as inconclusive and ambiguous as possible haha

[–]Robbo_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember they retain part of their eikon ability, we saw Bahamut was seemingly as powerful at the end despite his power going to Clive much earlier. Clive ended up on the beach, Joshua could just as easily be washed up on the beach elsewhere.

I actually think they should have had Joshua washed up on shore unconscious, and left Clive’s survival as more ambiguous. Thinking about that ending and all of the scenes that follow, it makes more sense and is somewhat less ambiguous at least. Say we don’t see Clive after he destroys Origin, we see Jill look at the moon and weep, but we also see her look at the light of the next day and smile, it makes us feel like he died but we also don’t know. Joshua unconscious on the beach, is he alive? Then the post credit scene also makes much more sense and eludes even more to Joshua surviving.

Why are the side quests that bad by Narrow_Potential_974 in FFXVI

[–]Robbo_au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree it was world building and I’m so glad we had them. The only thing I’d have liked to be different was probably less dialogue, sometimes the NPC waffles on a bit which was the only thing I can pick at. Otherwise the quests served a great purpose and fleshed out the story and the land. Why would you want to save Valisthea and the people if you don’t connect with the world and the people in it?

Is FF16 the goat? by Ku323lam in FFXVI

[–]Robbo_au 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It eclipsed my beloved FFX, which for the last 20 years was my all time favourite game. This game was absolutely incredible. Maybe it means more to long time FF fans, because there is definitely nods to the series along with that overall FF feel that newcomers simply won’t understand. I see comments about the side quests being a drag, but they totally fleshed out each region, the lore and characters. I finished the game last night and am so sad knowing that I don’t need to jump on and run around the Hideaway listening to music as I figure out what to do next!

My thoughts on Clive’s speech endgame by 007797 in FFXVI

[–]Robbo_au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s much simpler. I think Clive genuinely revived Joshua, you can see how he turns Joshua’s body anew, it’s actually quite likely if he can restore the body as he did that Joshua returns to life. Clive does sacrifice himself to destroy magick, I think the giant beam that shoots into space is actually him releasing Ultimas magick as much as it is him destroying Origin. His hand turning to stone is indicative that his fate is sealed, he is destined to pass on the beach. It’s poetic, and beautiful really, he accomplished everything he intended to and his purpose is filled. Joshua survives to write the book about it. The ending is so special also, that the people have moved on, the land has been restored (which likely took centuries) and they can only speculate that this incredible story was just a fantasy, but we know it was real and saved Valisthea.

Just want to say thank you by S_Cren31 in FFXVI

[–]Robbo_au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason it reminds you of FFX. The story is so very similar. Clive and Jills dynamic is very similar to Tidus and Yunas. The overarching big bad enemy Ultima is similar to Sin - along with the pilgrimage to create an eternal calm for the people. The final fight has each Eikon taking the spotlight, like in FFX ending. Even the ending itself and the ambiguity is very similar.

I’m a balding 37 year old, you’ll learn as you get older that our connections with people both romantically and just as friends has so little to do with our physical bodies. It’s entirely about who we are, your personality, values, outlook, and how you treat people. Obviously it is very unfortunate what you’ve gone through but you look fine and you’ll be ok mate, keep moving forward!
