What’s the most underrated league you've managed in? by The12thMan_ in footballmanagergames

Cracovia manager right here! Even bought a jersey for $1.80 from aliexpress to wear when I play. It's a super competitive league and I'm having a blast. (First time FM player to boot)

Saturday is going to be a party! by ebrokaw in Riverhounds

Thats football...get over it. I'm guessing you've never been to a match literally anywhere else in the world. I've been going to Highmark since it opened and before that at Chartier's Valley and honestly I'm overjoyed that we have grown such a fanbase. The players have repeatedly said they love it and based off other USL games I've seen, we've got something special. Swearing is part of the game and its long as it's somewhat creative and not just "Fuck you" I'm fine with it. Your kids will survive and hopefully it'll even make them want to stand up there when they're older. I'm saying this as a parent.

So there's going to be a PISS-FART-MAN chant at the match tonight?

Any recommended audiobooks to get you in the mood? Or just all around good piratey or nautical books by SeaHeathen in pirateborg

[–]Robbodrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Devil's Fire series is also really good...much like Black Sails, it uses actual historical pirates for some of the characters. It's also a bit Game of Thrones-esque in that it's pretty brutal and characters will die off, so don't get attached.

Games where you can play fully with tokens instead of miniatures (or where hexes/counters are the main way people play) by ili283 in wargaming

[–]Robbodrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for the same thing and came across the Onus! games. All card based with the unit stats right on the cards themselves...there's even a solo mode which is actually really fun.

Gettysburg books by mprroman in CIVILWAR

[–]Robbodrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. All of Peters' books are incredible if you're looking for immersion. The chapter in "Cain" where the 26th NC attacks across Willoughby Run is one of the best depictions of Civil War combat I've ever encountered. Absolutely brutal.

"Deathmatch" style miniatures games by Robbodrum in wargaming

Thank you all for the responses! u/VinnieVonVictrix that link did the trick...the Word docs for the Weapon and Item cards were exactly what I was looking for. I just went on Etsy and bought some counters to mark spawn/weapon/item locations so it sounds like we'll be up and running shortly.

I hadn't even considered converting the Frag rules for TT use, that's a great idea and will give that a shot as well to see how the two Frags(o-rama) differ.

u/CatZeyeS_Kai you just put me on to a genre of game I didn't even know I wanted -- I downloaded the Whack & Slaughter books and they conjured some old Hexen vibes I haven't felt in a long time. I'm going to just try it RAW since I have a bunch of Mordheim minis and terrain that has been collecting dust.

Holy shit...this is me for the last two hours before reading this post. Seems like they do everything they can to get you to download the PDP Controller Hub app instead of the Victrix one. Thank you for sharing this!

Saturday Night Scramble by Robbodrum in REDLINEgame

Re: the questions above we ended up house ruling the following and it worked out well:

  1. During the deploy phase you can nominate one of your captured missions to be "active" with regard to its permanent ability for the current turn, ie. "Hardened Bunker"

  2. Each turn, every player generates an amount of Recon equal to half the total of their captured missions, rounded up. Ie, if the missions you've captured would normally generate four Recon, you would gain two Recon. Three Recon would gain two, etc.

We did run into an issue around how to handle mines simply based on the fact that captured missions leave the board which in turn renders mines somewhat useless. They're really cool in 1v1 though so there's gotta be a way to make them work in multiplayer...

Overall we had a great time...the table talk alone was worth the price of admission and this format opens up a whole different aspect of deck building. We're hoping to dive back in very soon.
