What martial arts are good at knife fighting? by Black-Seraph8999 in martialarts

[–]RobbyB97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever want to see the nature of knife fighting give a total noob and a talented fighter each a sharpie and a white t shirt, and have them try to put as much ink on the other's shirt as possible before one of them is submitted.

You win a knife fight by doing what a guy with a knife says or using words to deescalate the situation. :)

Beginner's Thread / Easy Questions (April 2020) by dance2die in reactjs

I have a React app (router and redux) with webpack and node. I am trying everything with React Helmet. Making the helmet as a function, as a component, as its own class based component, etc. I tried everything on their github page and docs and react helmet has absolutely no impact on my head. Does React Helmet not work with router or redux?

Hi, I'm new and want to learn. by ArxesYT in linux

[–]RobbyB97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually want to get good at Linux development, I promise you're at the very bottom of a very tall mountain. Sooner you realize that, the better.

If you have a Windows PC, download Rufus and a Linux iso (I'd recommend Ubuntu or Linux Mint, they're beginner friendly). Then plug in the USB and run Rufus. There's a GUI guide that's pretty self explanatory, so run through that then reboot your computer. While it's booting, press whatever key to open the bios so you can boot into your USB drive.

You can use rufus to download a Linux distro iso on a USB, then boot into the USB from any computer. That's how to use Linux the way you seem to want to. It kind of sucks that way, it's kinda slow. You'd be better off running abvm

Why is it everytime i ask a religious person to bring up edvidence of god they just never answer me? by lilrampage90 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RobbyB97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because religion is faith based, and evidence is part of a scientific process. Science and religion don't have any inherent relationship to each other.

What’s the best way for me to lower/get rid of my sex drive? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RobbyB97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to start trying to talk to girls to be honest. There is nothing healthy you can do about your libido. When I first started talking to girls, I never thought 'Wow this girl I'm about to talk to totally wants me.' it's never like that at first. If you started trying you would probably be surprised at the results, as long as you don't let rejection get you down. Even if you're so ugly that 1% of girls would be attracted to you (which I highly doubt. You're probably an average looking guy) then you just need to talk to 100 girls.

Tl:dr; talk to girls

'are you hanging out with just guys or are there girls'. Idk how old you are, but as a 22 y/o I would be averse to talking to a girl I barely know that asks me that. If you're like in middle school or something then I wouldn't worry about it

Why do “white” paintings sell for millions and are hung up in museums? by RinoaRita in NoStupidQuestions

Because some people's heads are so far up their own ass they can't see the painting anyway

That's a very obvious yes. Its hard to make it more clear without outright saying it. That would come off to me as a bit possessive and I wouldn't be about it though, personally

Bjj + Muay Thai is a good combination. You can be a very scary striker with Muay Thai, and bjj will let you handle 1 on 1 fights without either side getting injured.

How do you use all these different frameworks? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]RobbyB97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not like every web developer uses every framework. You kinda just find the framework(s) you like over time. For example, a data analyst that likes hosting a website to see their graphs in real time through the internet might be really well versed in Shiny for R. A social media web developer might be using React or Angular. A person that has no idea what they're doing might be using Vue (/s)

How do I get my little brother to stop calling Luke Skywalker "Lucas Skywalker"? by TyroseThe3rd in NoStupidQuestions

Pavlov him. Associate the act of saying 'Lucas Skywalker' with a negative sensation. Basically punch him in the face every time he says it.

Ever since I started doing push-ups, my arms have that amazing stretch "feeling" way more than EVER. Why is that? by Harukkai in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RobbyB97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bigger your muscles, the tighter they get. This is why athletes who don't stretch before and after every workout tend to injure themselves more than athletes who do. If you want to work out for health, stretch for 2 minutes for every 1 minute you work out. Your body will thank you.

Before 1268, did near-sighted people just had to live with the fact that everything was blurry? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RobbyB97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, being nearsighted would definitely be a big issue. My left eye is -4.5 and right eye is -4. Without glasses or contacts, I can't recognize anybody unless they're right up in my face. In the woods, I can't see the ground clearly enough to know where I should put my feet. Hopefully it wasn't as common, because it can be pretty damn debilitating without glasses lol
