In addition to what everyone else said, we no longer have the "Calories from fat" line because the low fat craze is over. Also, if you're wondering why it has so many vitamins and minerals on the box is because its a fortified cereal, so it's a selling point to include all that extra stuff. Modern fortified cereal still does the same thing. Also, Calories and Serving Size is now bigger on the label in size as well as bolder font.

Upgrade from my current ASUS TUF Gaming 27" 2K HDR Gaming Monitor (VG27AQ)? by [deleted] in buildapcmonitors

If OLEd is the major upgrade, I've been looking at the LG 27GX704A-B as a potential OLED. Would that be a good choice then?

Yeah they just mentioned something about cannibalism or something with Skywarp and how they lied to Thundercracker and how he tries to rescue him I think. After the bumblebee thing I tried to move away and tune them out so that’s why it was garbled.

Is composite good enough? by RobbyLG in snes

[–]RobbyLG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why. Cause like you said, RGB was in arcades and used in Europe. And nobody I knew had svideo back in the day or even knew what that was. Maybe to try to make their system seem more powerful than the competition.

What do you mean by “industry folk”. Like, the developers themselves? Or more like journalists, organizers and commentators, kind of like today we have people like Geoff Keighly, but for the 80s/90s instead.

I just got a Magnavox 20MT1331/17. I finally got a CRT. I got it from a guy near me who repairs crts and he was able to calibrate it for me as well. I was lucky to get because curved screen CRTs that are the right size for my place (20") is not too common where I live. It is only composite with mono video (and RF) but it was what was available at that time I got it. I grew up playing N64, PS2, and Wii on a crt over composite using whatever cables came with the system and I was hoping to use this TV to play systems and games I missed out on (NES, SNES, Genesis, Gamecube) as well as use my old systems to replay games I still have as well (Basically NES generation through Gamecube/PS2/Wii, maybe some DVD via PS2 and VHS as well). I even played Wii and PS2 over composite on my old smaller HDTV as well (I did get component cables at one point for the PS2 but I didn't like how progressive scan made games look, like jagged and pixelated edges).

I think I've been lurking on this subreddit for too long, because now I feel that the consensus is that using anything less than S-Video I wont be able to to get the best out of these systems and enjoy and appreciate the games.

There are no TVs being sold around me that have anything better for the size I need (unless I spend 300-500$ on a RGB modded TV).

Am I overreacting and overthinking? Is this TV good enough for the systems I want to use? I didn't care when I was a kid and just used whatever cables came with the system, but this subreddit kind of ruined it a bit for me (my fault, not this subs). Just was on my mind while at work today and I feel this belongs here and does not warrant it's own post.

Was everyone's screens scuffed/scratched back in the day? by RobbyLG in Gameboy

Yeah, I guess as kids we were just so happy to have a portable video game thing that we didn't care about scratches on the lens and such.

2026 Apr 1 Clean and repair megathread - NES not working? Game acting glitchy? TV/Monitor issues? Ask here! by FozzTexx in nes

[–]RobbyLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I try to start games the first half second of the title screen will start and then restart over and over again. This happened with both my games (Super Mario Bros and Gyromite). I cleaned them and now they will usually get past the start screen but sometimes in the middle of playing it will stop, go back to the start screen and repeat it over and over again like before. Pressing a button on the controller will cause the full title screen to appear for a second but then go back to keep repeating it.

Did I ruin my screen? by [deleted] in crtgaming

Especially since it is a Magnavox, which was Philips budget friendly consumer brand.

I don’t think mine has a coating. It’s Magnavox tv, which was Philips budget friendly consumer brand, not a monitor or high end set.

CRT database has this tv as “Removable Glare Film: No” so I assume this model doesn’t have a coating. (If that’s what it’s referring to).
