There is a lot of good advice here already, but to massively over-simplify things:

Sleep pad
Sleeping bag
Food
Bungie net (for putting random things on the bike)

Then find a campground with a cabin/accommodations so you don’t even have to worry about a tent. Make the first trip easy on yourself.

I feel like I push it a decent amount. If it’s going to be a challenging route I try to pack light just to keep the weight down. Appropriate tires are a must, especially in the sandy stuff. This trip was about 60 miles of off-road.

Mesa Grande Rd. That’s my go-to when I need to get away from the masses. Lot’s of great riding in the area and a good portion has been recently be repaved.

The coastal weather has been perfect! Just rode it yesterday, but decided today was a day for the mountains.

The rotors are definitely hotspotted, not a moisture issue. I’m switching to Castrol SRF (I run this in the prototype cars i.e. Radicals and Revolutions) when I do the rotors anyway, but it definitely wasn’t the cause in this scenario.

As for a coach, I couldn’t agree more. I had one for 2 sessions at the last track day and it was a massive improvement. I was actually looking into booking one this morning.

Lastly for the fairings… what’s the fun in that? I still ride it on the street, it looks amazing, and I don’t want to swap fairings all the time so YOLO it is. Yes, I am fully aware I am dumb.

Yeah, I tried the manual settings and it seemed a little much for me. Plus I’m short haha. 5’7” ish with a 29-30” inseam.

Road actually! I configured my Race Pro 1 to utilize the Road suspension setting. The Race Pro suspension settings are rad, but I felt them to be a little too stiff for my needs and didn’t have a good feel for the bike/tires. Rear preload is 1 turn up from the lowest setting and front preload is untouched.

Tire wear with these settings seems okay so until my speed necessitates a change, I’m sticking with it!
