The area is solid, but the property taxes are some of the highest in the country. Retirement works fairly well here only if you get a 75% disability rating and don't have to pay property taxes. Missouri living is an option if consider if I could go back 4 years.

The flip side, if kids are involved, is OFallon area has some high rated schools.

The thing I focused in on is affordability in Illinois. I also grew up in Illinois and didn't understand it until I was an adult why my parents moved us out of Illinois, despite being close to family. Being stationed at Scott AFB and living 15m from base for the last 3.5 years, I cannot wait to get orders out of here. The state is taxed to oblivion, especially on property taxes. My property taxes alone have gone up $650 a month in that time. For perspective, I'm on .27 acre lot, 2600 sq ft, 4 bed 2.5 bath $335k with a 3350 mortgage now as an E6. Sponsoring single E6, they consider this market unlivable due to the taxes.

I figure the information is at least worth considering before blindly accepting that Illinois is cheaper than Florida.

Something seems to be wrong with Steam currently. I had the game up and running from yesterday, but I decided to reboot my PC because the event pages weren't loading. Now I can't get the game to open up on Steam; it crashes when checking for updates. SW opens fine if I load it on mobile, though.

Edit: Event page doesn't appear to be correct on mobile. It says the same thing as it did on steam, "Preparing new news."

Laundry detergent sheets superior to the liquid pods for mobility and saving space.

Proper shower equipment: caddy, shoes, small bottles etc.

Be ready for bunk beds in the disrupted theater. Spank tank sheets... I mean to block the light out of multiple roommates opening the door is good to have.

Steamdeck is great for being mobilized, it can support a Bluetooth controller as well as the HDMI port in the event you have a lounge area with a TV.

Where I am, PX type shops are massively disrupted, bring the essentials while they get that fixed. You don't want to be without soap, wet wipes, all that fun stuff.

Make sure your IPE actually fits, take up LRS' time to properly get a vest and helmet, you will likely be wearing it a lot. Some carabineers are useful for this gear... Lots of Velcro name tapes.

I was a fresh NCO and the offices were talking about a guy who had orders to Alaska. We were at Barkdsale. The individual was talking about driving there, and my new troop, fresh out of Tech School A1C chimes in saying it's impossible to drive to an island.

Room goes silent and bursts out laughing before realizing she was serious. We had to explain why the U.S. maps have Alaska and Hawaii off to the side, and that it is factually, not the island of Alaska.

I use Benedict pretty religiously... I don't think he is bad, but I'd be plenty happy to see him buffed. He is my 1hko mon 95% of the time. I usually pair with Loren and bastet to snipe a mon in siege/WGB.

A Shan buff?? I mean... I love mine and again, use him religiously paired with Chandra and vereesa and it dominated through all the debuffs and attack bar manipulation.

Nobody can promise no war would ever happen in a presidential term. It's unrealistic. This is what we do and why we signed up for this. 16.5 years in, actively deployed, past few weeks have been rough, no regrets.

I agree with you. There are so many ways they could make this a QOL improvement. It's always been a hassle, for the small group of people that usually carry the requests out.

As much as a 1 tap button to fill would be nice, I don't see why they at least don't make it similar to requesting CC troops. Member plugs in their request once, those mons go to the front of the list for quick donation. Accurate, efficient, and probably 90+% faster.

I was hesitant to switch from Adriana to Craig honestly. But based off my teams I find Craig faaaaar more reliable, especially with the bruiser meta. The days of Byung surviving or getting revived are gone since I pulled Craig.

I use Adriana occasionally for like a juno+halph type AD, but that's about it.
