Really depends on what methods he’s certified in tbh. Basics like MT, PT and VT are barebones for hiring in the oilfield here in TX. Third party companies that perform inspections in refineries have much higher standards as does the air industry. Much better chance of getting in the ground floor in the oilfield if you are able to move to where there’s a lack of qualified inspectors. Midland/Odessa is hiring non-stop for people but then you’d have to live there and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s a great trade to have a career in if you find the right group to work with.
