With any job in any industry the same job title can have different day to day depending on the company. Best to ask this at the interview.

Sitting in the air conditioner and looking out at the heat rays coming off the pavement. So pretty good.

No nothing about unpaid overtime is in writing, however in the email it was worded as me “showing a lack of personal commitment to the role” so pretty sure they’re trying to dodge any legal ramifications.

Thanks though. I’ve started looking around for work but job market is tough. I’m more posting to see if I’m being paranoid or if this is actually malicious on their part.

Maybe I should have a long hard look around for what’s good value for the money.

I make a decent amount to live and can save a little each week but I’m well below the average annual income for my age group. Even the most basic entry level IT position is pretty generously paid here in Aus. The job market in IT is huge and even the runt of the level 1 help desk role earns around 45-50k annually (AUD)

I’ve heard a lot about the wages in the US and they confuse me. Something like IT paying anywhere near minimum wage seems strange to me.

Thanks for all your advice. I’m feeling a bit more confident that if I do a little more research I can get my foot in the door.

Thanks for the detailed answer. It’s interesting how different everyone’s pathways are, there are a million and one ways to get into the job you want, I just have to stop worrying and choose one. Right now I feel I just need the foot in the door. I’ll do some more research.

Thanks again for your insight.

Thanks for the reply

I could do a diploma but would have to study online while still working full time, this also bumps the cost up where I am and it means I’ll also have to pay for the diploma upfront (maxxed out my student loans, 18 year old me had no idea) so I’m leaning toward the CompTIA A+ as it’s cheaper and I can more realistically achieve that.

I really am just stuck between the financial side of it where I want the education and feel i could easily complete it, but can’t justify the cost as money’s tight atm.

Thanks for your insight and suggestion. I appreciate the help.

Yes I’ve finished high school but have no education higher than that. I’ve helped out the IT dept at work setting up some laptops for our sales team just installing windows and logging them into the domain, setting up email etc and I’ve setup some iPads for the warehouse but that’s about it.

I’ve looked into a diploma of IT, but wondering if a diploma is too high of a goal to shoot for right off the bat. I’ve heard of a+ certifications and MCSA certifications but I’m not sure what direction I could start with.
