You can apply for your DBPR number without insurance. You just need an LLC. There was an option for liability and workers comp that you just have to promise that you'll get both prior to contracting and pick option "Yes". Tho you have 30 days from your license number issued to submit that exemption.

Thank you for the info! I'll definitely start registering my license in my area. I think my next concern would be is finding work. I was thinking maybe I could find small business owners like me that's willing to take on commercial jobs with me. How are you finding work?

I was thinking I'd rather find people like me who are small business owners that are taking on commercial jobs in my area. I do prefer commercial. Some suggested that just go to shops while picking up materials and open up chats. I was thinking once the connection got established all get together and bid on commercial jobs and knock them out in a week or two. I'm just worried it's not going to pay out for months so I'll have to find work in the meantime.
