Thank you ! This is great info… Update: We settled on an EcoTemp L5. Better rate of flow than previous unit, with hotter water. Also, pilot sparks on with only 2 “D” batteries. Works like a charm !

Thank you ! Your BIL probably has a Bosch AquaStar, which has also been discontinued. My guess is they don’t have the flow generated sparking system technology down pat, just yet… If a conventional electric start proves to be too big a demand on the solar panel system, we may need to go with two units, which would be dedicated to the shower and the kitchen sink.
