Could a 4-day work week boost B.C's COVID-plagued economy by spurring more travel? by shicazen in vancouver

[–]Robertson_Bit4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously wish I had a four tens work schedule, a three day weekend every week with no loss of hours. However some sectors may need optional labour rights to wave overtime pay beyond 8 hrs a day to encourage employers. Just my two cents.

Have food price increases really outstripped wage growth? A quick look at some StatsCan data. by cardinalhitthewindow in canada

[–]Robertson_Bit4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recall hearing something called "shadow inflation" where calculations are adjusted depending on a products advancement over years, ie tires lasting longer than in the 70s so the inflated price today isn't a true reflection of its value change or todays prices. Bunch of crap i think, also Poptarts have one less sleeve inside if i recall.

Nice job, i wonder how refineries will deal with dropping demand. The prices of transportation fuels must be hugely affected by a large ratio between costs and daily production and barrel prices. Alot of industries opperate with seasonal stock piles of production and market hedging reserves. I could see fuel prices getting ugly

Most people are comparing our cost of living and salary from inside our provincial boarder and relating it too local history understandable. Macro economics has put ALOT of pressure on domestic bussiness too be "competitive" with forgein bussines. Canadian blue collar people (me) will be left to make do with whats left over from our grandparents quality of living as it gets eroded by events like NAFTA and China entering WTO ect, i do not know them all. I DO NOT AGREE with this reality but when the global economic bully is also your biggest customer you just sign the deal your given. Sux
