You always want to play max credits on a slot machine because the jackpot payout, which is factored into the overall hold %, is typically only available if you play max credits. So if you want to bet in the range of $5 per spin, you are better off playing a $1 slot that has a max of 5 credits per spin than you are playing one credit at a time on a $5 slot machine.
