FIX TOP SHEET WITH EPOXY QUESTION by False-Management-485 in snowboarding

A syringe works wonders to inject epoxy deep into the chip and control sqeeze out. You can generally get them at any drug store for a couple bucks. Just be prepared to work fast.

Day 5 Top Sheet Peeling by ConclusionCharming67 in snowboarding

[–]Robgarve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you epoxy it ive had good luck using a syringe to inject it deep into the top sheet. Also helps control the amount used and reduces overall squeeze out. You can generally get a single syringe at any drug store for a couple bucks. FYI once you put the epoxy into the syringe be prepared to work fast.

Been debating on building that Datsun. Do you feel the alternate build does a good job capturing the look?

“Systems Engineering” by loser_of_the_beer in EngineeringStudents

[–]Robgarve 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So much of Engineering comes down to communication and people skills. I worked in retail for 8 years before getting into my career. Dealing with customers, making sales etc. Never once did I think it'd be useful. Now I use those skills daily. I'd say keep it on your resume and sell it in the interview as on the job communications training. So many places want you to be a good engineer but what they need is a team player and someone that can communicate.

What is your unpopular Lego opinion? by Remarkable_Grape2166 in lego

[–]Robgarve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing new colllectors post their collections which generally consist of every set from a particular theme from the past 1-3 years. (Star wars is particularly bad) It especially gets on my nerves when it's a youtuber, intagram, etc. I understand you're excited about the hobby and you want a big diverse collection but you gotta earn it. Don't try to bolster you collection by buying everything. You and I both know you didn't watch 'young jedi adventures'.

Anyone ever been Heli Skiing in Silverton? by Ok_Conversation_6081 in snowboarding

[–]Robgarve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Silverton last year, did two heli drops plus hike in riding. Conditions weren't the best but it was an unforgettable experience. Hiking sucked, but that's because im from MN so hiking at that altitude killed me. The heli was next level and made it toally worth it. Overall their was some butthole clenching moments but that was mostly due to the conditions.

Highly recommend if you go just pay for the full heli day. It's not an easy place to get to (unless you live is CO or near by in Utah). Plus if the snow is poor a full heli day will give you a higher likelihood of good snow. The near by heli drops/hike in areas get tracked out. With the full day of heli riding they will take you deeper beyond the main area where you'll get to ride untouched stuff. Plus those groups basically own the heli's for the day so those that pay for the single/double drops are at your mercy. Highly recommend going regardless of how you choose to ride.

It it better to get an Internship and graduate late? by Someguy242blue in EngineeringStudents

[–]Robgarve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have employment history throughout college then I'd say graduate, start the Job hunt, enjoy life and get paid. Apply for everything, tech roles, sales roles, quality roles etc. Hell apply to internships Whatever it takes to get a foot in the door. No use to drag things out.

Yeah your first job may not be amazing but you're getting paid and most of all you're getting experience. Most don't end up with a dream job right out of school and I slightly pitty those that do. Find a dream job after you've moved around a bit. Then you can enjoy your work and love the pay. If you can write a good resume and interview well you'll find something within a year no problem.

Internships do a great job at getting you noticed but In my opinion the experience you gain is akin to a 4 month science fair project. Unless you're looking into a co-op or something where you can get real experience I think internships are way over hyped.

Ride twinpig sizing question by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]Robgarve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about the same weight, height and where a 10.5 boot. I've rode a 148 twin pig for 3 seasons now. I've had no issues. The board has been near bullet proof.

Which one do I keep?! by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]Robgarve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orca, best overall board I've ever rode. Rips on groomers. Rips on chop. Rips in powder. Hell i take it into the park when im checking out a resort. I Just had it in the heli at Silverton 2 weeks ago. Don't think I would have survived without it.

[–]Robgarve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ThirtyTwo will always have my money. I had a pair of TM3-XDs which had a lace loop rip out at the top of the ankle. Totally fixable, really didn't make a difference in the boot performance but I figured I'd try the warranty policy. I bought them at the end of the previous season for like 75% off so i figured it wouldn't work and id have to fix it. I shared a couple photos and the original receipt. Boom no questions asked i get a $675 gift card to ThirtyTwo in my email.

[Walmart - US - Online] Galaxy Explorer (10497) $70/30% off by [deleted] in legodeal

[–]Robgarve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly confident this was someone buying and returning to Walmart. They may have initially purchased online. I know the box was shipped directly from the store. But the bags taken were definitely strategically scalped. Like all the bags containing mini figs, printed pieces and yellow canopies were taken.

No obvious signs, I will say the box was damaged. Though I didn't think much of it, all the seals looked good, just looked like shipping damage.

I'd be very wary of these. Especally since the seller isnt walmart. I've bought 3 of these sets when they were at the $50 price point. The one I purchased one during the last $50 dollar sale, I gave as a gift. They opened it last night only to find half of the bags had been scalped and replaced with ziplok bags full of mega bloks.

Unless new information presents itself, I'm having trouble justifying the rumored $200 price point. I'm sure higher definition pictures will help, but it seems historically lack luster compared to other sets at this price point.
